In Battle Actor Replacement (like shapeshifting or summoning)

Hello all,

I wondered if anyone might know how to accomplish a scripting function that, while in battle, would allow an actor (character) to say...use a special ability (Shape Shift/Transform or Summon) that allows them to be replaced both in battle and even AFTER battle by said other actor either for a timed duration OR until the skill is used again?

I was hoping to do something similar to how Breath of Fire allowed the main hero to be replaced in battle; or two characters to FUSE into a new one like the first game. Or how Yuna from Final Fantasy X replaced most characters with herself an another new character. Anyone have any ideas?? I was hoping to replace character A with his secondary form of B (a dog form) for duration of battle and even after if possible. Similar trick would be to allow his dog form to be used outside battle to sniff for hidden items or do the Pokemon HM trick where he could 'dig rocks'.

I sugest you try OriginalWij's pet script i think that would let you acheive what you described

Update: I have tried to use Common Events to accomplish this and it seems I get a few errors especially since I am using a replace/add character script but its difficult because after a while you get some lag.
