i figured this would be the right place to post this since it's technically a resource, but feel free to move it if it's better suited elsewhere. ^.^

anyhow, i was sifting through some of my old folders when i found an old fan game of mine that i was working on a few years ago. it's a pretty solid engine overall, albeit with a few bugs that i never got around to ironing out (animations locking up and such). i figured it would be a useful resource for anyone looking to make a metroid fan game or some kind of platformer as many of the scripts can easily be ported and configured for your specific needs. the download is below, as well as a few old screenshots.

note: these were taken while the game was still in production, so they're not entirely accurate. but yeah. <.<

Gracie

WOW! Thats fantastic!

Does she do all of her trademark moves? (Mainly the rolling thingy she does!)

if you're referring to the morph ball, yes. there are other items already in the engine that are fully functional but not included in the demo as well. (hi jump boots, spazer beam, etc.)

Wow, the screenies look like their from Xargon (I think that's what it's called).
Therefore, their are awesome. I might have to get Game Maker again.
Thanks for the post! Great engine, man!
it's like a metaphor or something i don't know

Hey, I got a question: Are these graphics your own? If so, nice work! I personally am making a Metroid INSPIRED game (not QUITE a fan game), but I've never really been a good graphic artist. I'm improving though.

Gods ain't gonna help ya son...

haha, sadly no. spriting isn't my forte, though i did color them since the originals were grayscale.
