Cannot move up; not a code error [VX]

I'm a little stuck here. The program was running fine until a sudden instance where I was adding a random fight.  Now when I start the game up, I can move only upwards in the menu and I can't move up in the game itself.
I know almost nothing about coding and haven't touched the code at all.  I started a new game just to make sure and I have the same error.  It's not my keyboard and I've already messed with the game controls, although I still might not have worked that out of the problem entirely...

This once happened to me. Not sure why, but it started working fine when i restarted it.

Create a new project and project folder. Copy the data, graphics and audio files into the new folder and copy all scripts you have into the project and see if that works.
