This is the game I'm working on. I know they'll come whether I want them or not, but please say something about it. Comments, questions, (constructive) criticism.
To start off with:
Spoiler for Story :
The Story is set in (mostly because of limitations tileset-wise)medieval-ish times. The current government is a militaristic
, socialist government, called the Protectorate, that somehow manages to stay in power while doing almost nothing effectively(insert France joke here). However, what little it manages to do tends to piss people off. A lot. So a group was formed to take it down. The group is the lesser of two evil, so our hero is going to side with the government on this one. OR WILL HE?
Hopefully there will be some nice plot twists and turns and Chekov's guns/gunmen and the like.
Next up we have:
Spoiler for Characters :
As of right now, this is Eli Jackson, in all his green-haired splendor. Eli is the son of the Vice Chief of the Town Guard. He has a straightforward attitude and brutal honesty: he will tell you what he thinks, and while he will rarely soften the truth of it, he does know what situations call for tact and which don't. He has a good family life and follows most laws from the government.
Sorry, no graphic for this guy. I haven't extracted him from the standard RTP collection of "People" yet. Anyway, normally you would be looking at Allen Jackson, Vice Chief of the Town Guard. He has a quick temper for anyone who gets in his way, annoys him, or is generally not a good friend/family member. For family members/friends, he is actually a nice, reasonable person who is just doing his job.
Another one that I haven't extracted yet. This is supposed to be Richard Jennings, the Gatekeeper and Census taker for the town Eli lives in. He is a good friend to the Jackson family, and is thus treated nicer than most by Allen Jackson. He gets the lovely role of.... no I'm not going to tell you that. It would spoil the fun.
These are the only important characters so far, but I can guarantee that there will be more to come. I mean, I still haven't made a king, love interest, mom, siblings, buddies, etc.!
Now we get to this:
Spoiler for Features :
This game proudly features the latest in Tankentai Sideview Battle systems, alleviating the boredom and monotony of making numbers and slashes appear on pixel art. Also included are lockpicking, assassinating, wordlocking, and riddling minigames and a full stealth system! Also, for those of you who, like me, DESPISE random encounters, the only encounters you get are required by the storyline, seen on the map, or happen because you weren't good enough to avoid that guard.
We all love these:
Spoiler for Screenshots(View at your browsers own risk, there are a few) :
This is the very first part of the game.
Also from the first part, this letter contains the solution to a tiny, minipuzzle.
This is where you choose your name, learn the Menu, and see your first Vision.
The two options you see both have full dialog after them. For several parts in the game, I plan to give the player some actual choices during dialog.
I just thought this one was cool because there's a dead guy in it.
Richard Jennings showing Eli his stash of illegal text.
No need for the credits to be in a spoiler thingy!
