I don't know what the matter is... I had been working on the game for weeks on my desktop, but when it crashed, I continued work on my laptop... That was going fine and dandy, because mostly I was doing mapping, no testing needed... But I was getting bored with that, so I decided to do some eventing, but when I tried to test, LE GASP! I couldn't get the game to work...

That is, I could get the title screen to come up and the whole thing technically worked, but when I tried to start a new game? Nothing.

I have enclosed a copy of my game so that others can take a look. I haven't tried playing it from a compressed file, so I would suggest trying it in the game maker first, as that would be where my problem seems to be.

Sorry, it's mediafire because I couldn't remember the other one, which seems to be preferred: http://www.mediafire.com/?c4agzd5r3w6wddz
Ok, DON'T EXPECT HELP FROM ME~! I will perhaps rant a bit, but don't expect me to do graphics for you, even if I say I will... I won't.

The extract seemed to be weird for me in that it would go unresponsive for me after finishing, but that's something separate that I think has to do with my computer only.

Anyways, I was able to test play the game alright both from the maker itself and the actual file. I think it's just your laptop having an issue with it, possibly from how large the whole thing is file size wise.

any ideas of how I can make it work correctly? (yeah, it must have been the filesize problem, because I just downloaded a script/event package and it worked fine, probably because it has only 1 map)

I mean, can you think of a way to make the game less of a strain on my laptop?

Get rid of files you don't need, reduce the file size where you can. If it's something you need, see if you can't convert it to a less straining file type (like MP3 to OGG and PNG to JPG).

It's no guarentee that the fillesize is what's causing it, but it's my best guess atm.

Hrm... That seems to have been the problem... Switching to OOG was a good idea.

Now, however, I am having a problem with the fight system in the arena (map 7)...

For some reason, the enemy isn't appearing for the fight... I have the enemy set to appear based on a variable.
