Very Simple Question

I just started using RPG Maker XP again, and I have a pretty simple question. Okay, for the introductory cutscene, I have an old dude just standing there, and he walks over to the left, and then I cut to another map, and then I go back to that map. My problem right now is that, whenever I go back to this map, the old man is back where he originally was and the cutscene just starts all over again.

Okay, I think this is a pretty simple question, but how would I make it so that the old man walks over to the left and stay there for when you go back to that map?

Self-Switches.

Make two separate events, one for the cutscene and one for where he stays afterward. For the latter one, pose a self-switch condition in order for the event to exist. On your opening cutscene event, create a blank new page, and set the condition on that page to the same self-switch. Then, all you need do is turn the self-switch on at the end of the opening cutscene. This will erase the first event and put the second one on there, as if it were the same thing all along.
