Then the DS lite the DSI the DSXLL and now the 3DS :/

They have announced a new DS pretty much on top of the release of the DSXLL

Nintendo is starting to suffer from Sega Syndrome. Releasing more consoles than it can keep up with.

That's nice. Here we go!

The DSi XL isn't really a new DS so much as it's just an alternate version of the DSi for people with impaired vision. It was never intended as update/upgrade, and I have no idea why people seem to think it is. So what have we got?
DS -> DS Lite -> DSi/XL

The space between the DSi and the 3DS is two years. The space between the XL and the 3DS is one year. Hmm, perhaps they're cutting it a bit close there. I wonder if Nintendo has made a worse mistake in the past?

They have!

Remember the Game Boy Advance? Remember how they put out an upgrade called the GBA SP? And then how they put out another upgrade called the Micro after the release of the DS? Now, anybody with of brain skipped the Micro because the GBA's successor was already on the market and it was backwards compatible. Nobody bought it!

Let's go back even further.

Remember the Game Boy? Well, remember how they put out an upgrade called the Game Boy Pocket? Well, here's a little known fact: Nintendo put out another update to the Game Boy called the Game Boy Light. It also failed because it was release about 6 or so months before the Game Boy's successor, the Game Boy Colour.

So, let's recap:
GB -> GB Pocket -> GB Light (failed - woops!)
GBA -> GBA SP -> GB Micro (failed - woops!)
DS -> DS Lite -> DSi (didn't fail! [remember: two years]) / XL (it remains to be seen! [protip: they'll still likely make a profit out of it])

Now we have the sequel to the DS, the 3DS. So where's the problem?

I'm more interested to see how the 3D tech will work without the use of glasses or the such.
Like, will it matter where you hold the device? Will you have to keep it in a particular position while playing to work?

And either way, this is Nintendo we are talking about, they will make anything sell. They are in with the casual market now, anything they make will turn a profit, guaranteed.
