Hey, I've started a new game called Time Benders and I was wondering if there is such a script as to make events and stuff go back or forward in time. . . Or it could be with the common events.

NPC

It depends on if you mean going back and fourth in Crono Trigger or if you mean go back to times you previously were at in the game. Either way you can using events and variables.

If within the story line I would suggest just using variables for story progression and have it so that a lot of events are based on those few variables so when they go back everyone will act as if they didn't get to point "x" yet. For things to be better you would have to do a lot of work and save several variables positions in one variable (I think you can do that)

Crono Trigger would have more events needed for each specific action done in the past, but because you wouldn't ever undo actions it should just be like normal variable use, just with copy/pasted maps of everything.
Why do 1 lined nameless NPCs never get taken seriously?

Grafikal

Chrono Trigger is simply the same maps using different tiles and teleporting between them and just calling it a new time period giving that illusion.

I think what NPC is saying makes sense but would it be possible to make something like in Prince of Persia : Sands of time where the player presses a button to go back a specific amount of time? That's more what I'm looking for but otherwise, if not, the system with the variables would work great. Thanks

Grafikal

I doubt it's possible. The script would literally have to track EVERYTHING in your ENTIRE GAME and then reply that shit backwards at the whim of the user. Not possible.

Zeriab

It is possible, but would pretty much require a rewrite of the default scripts. (In particular the parts related to the map, interpretation and event movement)
I don't think you'll be able to find a scripter willing to take on the task of writing a system working in general.

Nathanael

I think I'll use the system with the variables. . .but hey? Who knows. . .someone out there might be waiting for me to ask them for this :moopost:
