Text in a foreign language?

I wanna write some foreign language text in the "Show Text" event but... The letters come out as question marks. They look fine while i'm typing, but after clicking OK, and inside the game, it's all ?s. Solutions, anyone? Thanks.

I just had a look myself, I wasn't sure what language you were trying for, but I went for basic arabic cos I found that in a subset in MS Word's symbols lol (just copied and pasted). It did just as you said though... I'm guessing RMXP just doesn't support certain characters, there are probably certain symbols you can find in windows that will work but not others if you catch my drift. I really don't know if there's a simple solution that isn't time consuming for this.

One question though. Are you wanting these foreign characters to come up in a text box like in conversation or is it like checking inscriptions on a wall? Just because you could use a picture or animation to display them, but that would be very time consuming but it could be quite a cool effect if you used an animation.

I haven't dabbled much in fonts so excuse me if I'm wrong but wont that change the font for the entire game? Or is it possible to edit a font to have both english and another language?... Anyway, a brain as tired as mine doesn't think well lol.

Some fonts have support for foreign characters and some do not, it depends on the language he wants to use. Most japanese fonts use monospaced fonts and typing in english with a font like that would look rather odd, a cyrillic font with english support would look okay and a greek font would only have greek characters, or most greek fonts would. I should have asked him what language he wants to use instead.

Oh and, the language I wanna type in is Hebrew, and I want the text to be in a text box (Y'know, in the "Show Text..." command).
