Alright, I have made one of those silly snap decisions of mine.

Tomorrow I am going to make a 24 hour comic. I know people usually get caffeine and shit for these things but I have a whole entire Saturday to do whatever, an idea to work with, and the desire to turn out a WHOLE ENTIRE COMIC because I want to show you guys some examples of my work.

(By the way, I have had a webcomic in the works for a month or so now but I want to get the website running first...and before that I need to make a layout and pictures for the layout and graaaah. And I figure I better finish off the pencils for the first  30-40 page chapter before then too. Blah.)

So this will be the thread I'll post concept art and such in. The comic I'm working on will be hand lettered and penciled, with everything else being done through the computer. I'm going to avoid tones unless absolutely necessary. Shading will be crosshatching, I think.

The story will be all about this hypnotherapist with some supernatural stuff stuck in there.

I can't guarantee it'll look...good...at all. But I'd like to get some practice, get a comic actually finished, and to show off whatever work I can offer.

SO I'll be on here all day, and I'll be posting little tidbits of artwork followed by the finished project RIGHT HERE. I think it'll be pretty fun - I did a 24 hour comic once before and it was a good experience. I'd be too ashamed of the artwork/writing now to show it to anyone now though ^^;

Anyways, wish me luck! I'll be starting tommorow. Whenever I wake up.

YEAAAAH!

IT HAZTH BEGUNS!

Uhh, I only have a character sketch for you right now.

It is 11:53.

Wish me luck.

I'll probably have to finish up tomorrow, but I'll keep on working ;_;

AND YES, I SAW A GREEN LANTERN THING LAST NIGHT SO THE STORY'S DIFFERENT NOW.
Spoiler for:
It wasn't a very good green lantern thing but a combination of me being super tired, as well as reading a whole bunch of Zettai Karen Children whilst watching the Green Lantern thing has me inspired. I wasn't sure how I was going about the hypnotist thing anyways... It was going to end up real melodramatic, I knew that much.

I REGRET NOTHING! @O@

THIS ONE IS LADY ALEXANDRIA.

SHE IS NEVER EVER GOING TO NEED ANY OTHER POSES EVER.

the doodlier one is the more recent one, and the one that I am more pleased with.

ONWARDS TO WRITING~

LUNK PSSSHHH CLONK-A-DONK.

FOURTEEN-HOURS-SEVENTEEN-MINUTES-HYPHEN-THE-STORY-LINE-HAS-BEEN-CONSTRUCTED-STOP.

COMMENCE-WRITING-STOP.

Spoiler for THE PROCESS:
The first thing I do after coming up with a few concept sketches (I usually just sketch out a couple of main characters, the rest get made up along the way. I'm lazy.) is sketch out the storyline. I try to keep that process as quick and painless as possible. I usually have a vague idea of what I want to do and dialouge that takes place before I sketch it all out but the storyline doesn't really take exact shape until then. I write it all out in point form, like this:

-Kathryn is an android. She wishes for free cake for all robotkind.
-Kathryn finds some regular cake and researches it for the purpose of transmitting it into text form.
-Kathryn successfully figures out cake using a montage (Chalkboard;Computer;Microscopes;etc.)

And so on. It's not very exact.

After that I get out my TRUSTY RED PENCIL and start sketching things out on printer paper. I give it a 1" border (I liken it to buddist types grinding up ink blocks for ink when they want to write something with ink and brush. It's supposed to get you into a calm state of mind or something.) and then I start ruling out panels, one panel at a time. At this point I'm mostly concentrating on writing so I just make a quick frame for my characters and background.

The lettering is done here too. I letter using a ruler, marking out 1/2 cm interveals for the lettering to go into. 1/2 cm is the standard height for me, but of course some moments require smaller/larger text. Actually, I usually only vary size for bold text, and even then not too often. For yelling and whispering I just don't bother with rulers at all. Whispering is just my regular scrawl that you are fortunate to not have to read (Of course I make sure it's legible first. JEEZ.). Yelling is a bit more capitalized and angry-looking. I do that for sound effects too.

After I've made the initial sketch (And I usually make up scenes along the way. I write comics very haphazardly and I don't know whether or not that's a bad thing. I just can't STAND scripting ;_;) I go and pencil all the detail in. While I'm writing I leave myself little notes because I'm cool like that :3.

Then I pop everything into the scanner where I ink everything out in SAI.

And that's how I'll be making this comic. WOO!

...It's totally going to take more than one day ;_;

EDIT: My other inspiration for this comic was PORN. Thank you, porn.

And thank you.

Alright, I'm going to prepare the first page for scanning so that I have something to show you guys besides concept sketches.

You can expect that in two hours at the absolute most.

This next guy isn't so important, but he was fun to draw.

OH DEAR GOD THE POSSIBILITY ALONE IS SCARIFYING O_O

Yeah, most of it is for colour though and it's squished because I have a smaller screen. I THINK I use all of them...

...Well the colour ones are really the only ones I have the option to close, lol :D

Yeah it's taking a little more than two hours but I've been a surprisingly diligent worker @_@

...All of that background...

Anyhow, Very nearly finished though. Backgrounds are all sewn up and the character lineart is almost done. I don't think shading should take very long because It'll probably sum up to a bit of crosshatching on the clothing.

There's no way I'm going to get this done in less than a week though. Sigh.

Anyways, I'll get it done eventually though, right? Right?!

HEY GUESS WHAT IT'S BEEN MORE THAN TWO HOURS AGAIN BUT IT'S DONE! YESSSSS! ;O;

After this I guess I'll make something up at smackjeeves or something. I can't post them all here, of course. I'm not that cruel a user. I won't make up any more finished comics until I'm finished writing, at least.

I hope you like this single page, and remember that this is going to be fucking crazy and that this page in particular is biased towards that part of the story, if that makes any sense.

Critique would be appreciated. I'm actually kind of proud of this page so I can take it ;)

EDIT: I just realized I posted a fullsized page here. I'm going to take it off for a second, reduce the size to 75% and reduce the filesize.
