Map screen is black, cannot place terrain, just a black screen

The screen is just black when I'm trying to create a terrain, completely black, anyone know how to solve this?

Do you have the proper tilesets installed and such? I'm a XP user so I can't give you real step-by-step solution myself, but if you don't have anything in your map tool area it probably means that you don't have the tileset. For XP it means that you just didn't install the RTP that comes with the program.

2k3 RTP installs with the main part of it sounds like the files in the RTP got deleted or it can't find them. Try copying the folders out of the RTP and into the project folder. Or reinstall and drop your project into the project folder, then open your project.
