I'm completely hating these battle backgrounds for RMVX... Is there a way to replace this generic, colored, swirling background with unique backgrounds for each area (like the earlier RMs had)?

Because these ones are a total eyesore and make every battle seem like a "final boss"
Ok, DON'T EXPECT HELP FROM ME~! I will perhaps rant a bit, but don't expect me to do graphics for you, even if I say I will... I won't.

You can grab a script. Check out the database here.

Well, I noticed when I looked there that Modern Algebra had a script for just this problem, but by the looks of things in his screenshot, he fucked up (I suppose I'm being a bit too crass here) the nice-looking backgrounds with photoshop or something... Now they look a lot less crisp, kinda blurry, ya know? And in that particular example, I noticed that there was some terrible editing in the transition from foreground to background... Like it originally had been all one pic and someone took a hacksaw to it.

Look for yourself...

you see the differences? It boggles the mind!

It's not that I don't like the fact he made the script and all that, but I was actually wondering if I could get one without the edited pics. I haven't yet downloaded the script/pics, and don't want to if they are going to look like... that. I just want my game to look the best it can, ya know?

Come to think of it, I should be wondering if there was a way to fix/replace his images with the true originals, and if so, how do I do it?

He only -very quickly- shuffled together some images as an example. It's not intended to be used as a background. Backgrounds you use are up to you. Often people take the XP RTP Battle Backgrounds and use those instead. I couldn't tell you off the top of my head how to change the image. I'm sure that if it's ModernAlgebra's script that he'd have explained it quite well in the instructions margin of his script. So first you'd probably have to get some images of your own.

Yeah, all I did for the sample pics was to take a 2k3 background (320x240), stretch it and cut the sky out of it so I could show the effect of having a scrolling background and non-moving foreground. So yeah, it looks terrible, but you can use whatever picturs you want and it will retain the quality of them. For that picture, there was no quality to retain.
