Hello everyone, my name is Rubydragon and I'm a bit new here. It's nice to meet you all.
I've been using RM2k3 since its release but stopped after getting tired from it. Recently however, I've felt a strong urge to make a game using it once again. I realize it its a bit late for something like that, but I'm unwilling to switch to newer systems like XP or VX since I enjoyed 2k3's simplistic method of designing event commands which really felt rewarding when I made something really unique.
Before, I would simply use already made resources I found over the place as the materials for my games, but at this point, I believe some ripping or designing on my own part will be necessary to complete my game. So here's my scenario:
Let's say I ripped (or made) all of a charset's components, in other words, the character facing up, down, left, right and three different frames for each positions. At this point, all that's left is putting them into an actual charset template to finish. However, this is where my problem lies. I realize that there must be a specific location where you must place your character sprites in each grid of the template in order to prevent 'dancing' through the animation, but my question is: how is this specific place found? Is it all simply a game of trial-and-error, or is there a program that can help me find this specific spot?
I understand it must seem like a trivial question, but I've never really learned how this system works. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
