Convert Battle system or Maker?

There was something I was wondering now that I wanted to ask you guys. Sorry if I'm asking too many questions. I currently have been making my games with RPG Maker 2000. However, I have noticed that RPG Maker 2003 gets the side view battle system I would  prefer in this game I'm making here. Is there a way to make this work in 2000, or should I convert to 2003?

Also, if I try to convert to 2003, everything is just black when you transfer it over. Just another little thing I saw. Which would you suggest, and for which one you suggest, how do I make it work? Either getting rpg maker 2003 to work, or making the battle system in 2000 if possible?

I am confused but lemme see if I understand this, you were making a game in 2k right? and you are thinking if you should move to 2k3, then yes that is a good move the problem is that since 2k3 is using a sideview DBS and 2k uses a front view dbs there's some difference so stats, etc. are restarted, I recommend making a backup of your project, then convert it and then just copy the hero stats manually to the 2k3 version, it shouldn't take that long.

I also recommend that you play around 2k3 first and see why some sections are just black :p

That's just it, I don't know why some sections might be black. I can just continue this  in 2000 if I wanted. The only reason I thought of changing to 2003 is the side view battle system.
