PS3 Slim

So I guess you've all probably heard that Sony is cutting the PS3's price down to a very reasonable and respectable 299$ (or 300 in English). And 120GB. Oh and the regular PS3 is now cheaper I think.

This is fantastic since Gran Turismo is one of my favorite games (more so than metroid prime :O) and I was going to buy a new video card that would last me a good few years at high settings so I could play games like Modern Warfare 2 or Rage...but really, this is fantastic. A blu-ray player (I probably wont use it) and being able to play GT5 for 36(?)0 dollars and all those other games for an extra 10$ a pop. But that last part doesn't really bother me. I'm hoping to have the 360$ for the game and PS3 by the end of the year just in time for Christmas. And GT5 won't be released by then, so I'll probably pick up Little Big Planet.

What are your thoughts about this? Has this sudden drop in price and increase in storage changed your mind about purchasing that hunk-o-plastic? The ability to install Linux has been cut out of the package, but I could care less about that. It certainly has changed my mind...

There's already a PS3 in the bonus room, but it's too far away from the router to get any kind of reasonable connection.

I said yesterday that I'll get the PS3 slim eventually.

You could just...move it.

Irock

I don't own it, and other people use it. ;o

Touche.

Backwards Compatibility with Ps2 has been removed, which sucks for me since I don't have  PS2. I might have to re-buy my PS1 games if they have them since my PS1's crapping out and I still love it.

Irock

What's the reason to remove backwards compatibility with the PS2? Did they have to remove the PS2 card from it? :v

Good thing I have a PS2 still. ;]

Roph

That's stupid. A PS3 should be able to play PS3, PS2 and PS1 games, giving it one of the largest game libraries in the world.

And sony needs to fuck off with their retarded pricing. One dollar does not equal one pound. $299 is about £180. Sell it for £199 then, but £300? No.

Wow...so PS3s are about £300 for you then?  X_X

And X-Box 360 Elite got lowered to $299.99.

PS3 is failure to me, no PS2-PS1 Disc compatibility & the fact that Blue-Ray of theirs is darn expensive, just irks me a lot, not to mention, not many good games, or the ones that are good, most of them are already on X-Box. Aside from God of War & the New FFvs.13 that everyone's hyped about.

Grafikal

There's plenty of good games that are PS3 exclusive. Off the top of my head I can only think of Folklore, but I'll have to raid my roommate's game closet to find more. He's kind of a bitch when it comes to games, to say all he spends money on are the good games on PS3. I'm certain he hasn't picked a poor game yet, as I've played all of them.

I disagree with this, the PS3 to me has many good features worth the 300$. For one, there are many movies that I would like to own in a higher quality visual/audio. Mainly concerts and such but I can really see the advantage of animations on Blu-Ray. I for one would love to see Wall-e on BR after seeing it in SD.
And off the top of ym head. I can name these games that look awesome on the PS3: Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, Ratchet and Clank (whatever it was), GT5, Folklore, MAG looks interesting...but I doubt I'd buy it.

I've got all 3 consoles and PS3 is definitely my favorite. The 360 exclusives come down to HALO N GEARS. Which is cool and all, if you're 12.
And my top 3 games this gen are No More Heroes, Little Big Planet, and Uncharted. Two of those are on PS3. Yeah the PS3 had a real rough start, yeah Sony is being batshit retarded about the backwards compatibility and pricing. But every exclusive I've played on PS3 so far have failed to disappoint.

Edit: Wait no, that's a lie. I hated Resistance.

Neato, I'll have to look into that. Because if they are 40 used, I see no reason not to.
