So my friend wants to help me make my game that I'm working on, and both he and I are wondering if there is a way to import maps.

Example:
He creates a dungeon on his computer, and I have the main game on my computer, is there a way I can take his dungeon and put it into my game without needing to recreate it myself?

I am using RPG Maker 2003.

I've never actually worked with it, but I'm pretty sure if he emails you the maps, you can put them in your project's folder with all the other maps and they'll show up. Maybe you should test it first (that, or wait for someone who's well versed in this kind of stuff).

I tried that, I made a new game, and took the .lua file (which was the map I had in the new game) and put it into my main games folder, and it didn't show up when I closed and reopened my game. I might have done it wrong though, I'm not sure.

Ahhhh~
Simply like this....
You should follow this way :
1. Your friend make it in his comp and make the name with "Map0002" For example<In the folder, Not in the Rpg maker 2k3>.

2. Then, On the main comp, You have to make another "Map0002" <Create a new map, and let them empty>

3. Copy Your friends "Map0002" And replace it with main "Map0002" <At the folder, Not at Rpg maker 2k3>

4. And it will simply a map there , At the main comp :)

Note : This can be used for map tree data broken too :3

Also, if your friend's map ID is 2 (goinvg example) and you already have a map ID 2, then I think(I THINK) you can rename your friend's map ID one number more than you larget Map ID you have in your game and then create a new map. I think that will work.
