I was going to create another Gmail account today for an irrelevant reason.
I fill out the long page of information that you usually fill out to create your account. Name, username, password, secondary email, security question, captcha, and the rest of the nonsense. I click the "Create my account" button, and I'm greeted by this horrendous message.
I have a working cell phone with a plan, but it isn't charged. I lost my charger a week ago, during a moving process. This is rather inconvenient.
If you don't have a cell phone, they suggest you use a friend's. There are flaws in this.
- A cell phone can only be used once to register an account. The person who let you use their phone will never be able to create a Gmail account.
- If you don't have a cell phone, you probably don't have friends.
- If you don't have friends, you can't use their cell phone.
- If you don't have a cell phone, you can't sign up for Gmail.
This is obviously bullshit. Roph can't sign up for Gmail because he doesn't have a cell phone plan. I'm sure Google's Gmail account creation is going to drop. Even if you do have a charged, working cell phone with a plan, it's just another annoying step. You can easily just sign up for another email service.
I hope Google dies.
