Q:OH WAIT KITKAT WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS?

A:OH WELL I'LL TELL YOU WHAT IT IS I AM TOTALLY MAKING A GAME. IN RPG MAKER XP. ALTHOUGH I ONLY HAVE THE TRIAL. I HOPE TO *BUY*(COUGHCOUGH) THIS IN THE FUTURE.

M'kay, so you may be wondering: What on earth is project Domnicide?

THE ANSWER
Spoiler for:
Project Domnicide is my total awesome project for the summer and probably for the rest of ever, even if it all seems short >.>

Domnicide is compromised of three stories, or games: God's Crescent, Depths, and Maze/Lies. God's Crescent and Maze/Lies are the two big ones, while Depths is a short but sweet story that I hope to make in 2k3 (Just because I already have all of the FSM resources ^^;; ). They are all set in separate worlds with different characters, but they all share many concepts. The big question is, what sort of god should a god be, and what about their doubtful and often unwilling servants?

OKAY, SO THE ONE I'M WORKING ON RIGHT NOW IS MAZE/LIES. I'm hoping it won't turn out like my last project. I am REALLY hoping it won't turn out like my last project. Because, you know, that didn't turn out so well.

THE CONCEPT:
Spoiler for:
Maria Stakes thought that she was dreaming: One moment she's following her brother and his friends in their quest to hunt down a giant bear, the next she's in a strange place with broken logic and ever-changing scenery, true names and angels devoted to the high angel known as Celebrated. Maria learns that her purpose is to find others, like her, inside of this strange maze and to seek their help in destroying the monster Agitator.

However, as she continues with her quest through the maze, the lines between good and evil blur, blend, and reverse steadily, until it comes down to the final choice: Is it better to be selfish and defy her own purpose, or to serve the greater good?

CHARACTERS:

Spoiler for:

Maria Stakes
Age:19
Class:Swordsman
A swordswoman with her own way of speaking and an ever-changing opinion of everything. She idolizes her brother, who taught her how to fence and even let her come on his expedition. She really doesn't want any part in the maze: She doesn't want to "Destroy" anything, she just wants outta there. She has no interest in romance or anything of the sort, and while she does love her brother and fencing, her true passions are unclear even to herself.

Ren Enclave
Age:21
Class:Archer
An experienced bowman, Ren seems to be at most at home in the woods. He has no family, it seems, nor any friends besides the people he's met in Maze. Ren has some dark secret that he refuses to reveal to anyone, even if he isn't all that good at concealing it entirely. He's far from serious though - When he isn't in the middle of one of his mopey "episodes" he's rather calm and easygoing.

Sydney Regent
Age:17
Class:Elementalist (Fire/Thunder Major)
Kin to the legendary Regent Magicians, a family of magicians specializing in elementalism and alchemy, Sydney feels he does not live up to the legend he is heir to, especially when compared to his brother. Perhaps as a result, Sydney is socially awkward: He'll say something dumb and piss off everyone in the room, be so brash and angry he'll scare the unlucky person he happens to be aiming his glare at to death, or reveal his cynical side at the most inappropriate at times: His sense of empathy seems to be rather broken. Anyone who sees him near his brother might assume that he hates him, however Sydney considers Dylan to be the most important thing, and despite his jealousy would never let anything happen to him.

Dylan Regent
Age:17
Class:Elementalist (Ice/Earth major)
The pride of the Regent family and Sydney's rather naive twin brother, Dylan's magic runs deep and so do his values and morals. Easy to be around (Unless the psuedo-hyper type tends to piss you off) and friendly to boot, Dylan is known as the better of the Regent brothers.

Despite the fact that the Regent brothers look nothing alike, Dylan believes that the fact that they are related is glaringly obvious.

Brother Eric
Age:32
Class:Holy Man
Eric is a reformed thief, before the church found him he had been living on the streets acting as the leader of a band of young delinquents. Although satisfied with his previous life, after he found god he became a changed man: he renounced his ways and encouraged his friends to do the same. (His attempts unsuccessful, they grew up to become grown-up thieves and murderers.) Now a member of the church, he acts as a counterweight to the doubts and suspicions of the group, and encourages them to have faith. However he has become doubtful himself, and will often become irritable and angry whenever the subject of his own faith comes up.

Angel
---
Devoted servants of Celebrated, the angels can often be seen around Maze. Talking to them is a little bit difficult, as most angels aren't the most articulate of beings, but they're usually in high spirits. However, say anything against their master and they could turn nasty fast.

Sidewalker
Age:???
Class:--
A mysterious angel with not much to say, although when she does talk her words raise even more questions. She knows something...

Celebrated
Age:???
Class:--
The high archangel, she appears before Maria and the others to explain their quest. Not very much is known about her, or why she wants this "Agitator" fellow destroyed.

I've removed the U/C tag - I have pictures and screenies now, so I figure this is good for now.

And it was silly anyways :)

*Whiiiinnneee* I want comments ;_;

Anyhow, obligatory update: Everything's been mostly structured out, and all of the maps I've skeletonized are more or less final. The demo, whenever it is released, will be Chapter One, which contains the prologue, and one massive day of running around various locations such as a swamp, an abandoned watchtower, and the eternally hilarious Zealot shop. Each "Chapter" or "Part" or "Day" will contain one elemental cave, at least two bigass monsters for you to fight, and one new and interesting direction of the plot.  Also, in Maze there are tons of little areas that will branch off, usually worth exploring. There are also often several ways to one location. *wootness*

Also, two custom systems are totally under development:

The Imbue system, similar to the Augment system in Fable: Combine it with any of your weapons and your enemy will have a little surprise in store for them. (*coughcough*FLAMING SWORD?!!!!*coughcough*)

Also I hope to have little manga chapters breaking up the gameplay every so often. There will still be cutscenes, however this provides another alternative for me, especially for parts of the story i don't have charactersets/tilesets for ^^;;

So far i have four manga chapters scripted, and I have some preliminary character pictures set up for you folks to approve. They're in the works atm, I'll put them in this post when they are done ^^

SO, NOW YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. QUESTIONS COMMENTS CONCERNS CRITIQUE?

Spoiler for:
please? ;o;

I <3 SuperHero Holk :)
Well, cause you gave me the decency and respect of giving me critisism in my game, I am obligated to do the same. :)

Story: Your story isnt really fleshed out properly. You have a backbone, but no flesh. Your story is starting to sound cliche at the moment too. There is also no purpose on the character going on thee adventure. I do however like the idea of good and evil and where to draw a line, though it needs to be thought out better. You are making it too biased at the moment. :)

Graphics: Steer clear of the RTP battles, do some searching and find your own, as it really makes a project look ameture. Your mapping needs improvement, alot of improvement. Your interiors are too big and the outside map is odd. You cant do that with a panorama, as it looks bad. Also, dont hue characters. :)

Other: You need a lot of work on this project. The good news is that you have heart and soul in this project. You are trying to make it unique, you just arent leaving the station yet. Practice makes perfect though, and with effort Im sure you will come up with something to awe us. :)

Thank you for the comment X3

Alright, I'll take most of that. RTPness does make for an amateur looking game - but I'm out here to prove that RTP graphics does not necessarily equal a bad game, which is the only reason the bulk of my graphics are RTP. However, I am considering straying outside of this - who knows, maybe by the time I'm finished this I'll have switched to half-kaiser? ^^;;

As for the story, I know it sounds cliche >.>;;

I'm working on that, and you said that too ;;<.<

As for the purpose, I probably should have put that there too. It sounds too corny to write out here, but your purpose in doing this is explained in game: Basically, if they don't do this they'll asplode. Well, that's the basics, anyhow.

Two of your comments, don't hue the characters and RTP battles are bad: In doing this you have revealed your ability to reach out through the internet and play what i have so far of my demo using your magical internet shaman powers. I'm on to you, becoolioman! *Bwahaha!*

Really though, being serious, thank you for the comments: I'll work on the mapping, that is one of my many weak points ^^;;

It's good to have a serious review as a first comment. Thanks again, Coolio : O

RTP graphics are fine, but they won't make people remember your character. Instead of Maria, they'll see Fighter-03.

Get a message system for sure, Ccoa's UMS is the best out there.

Read a bunch of mapping tutorials.

*kitkat runs back in*

Oh yes, by the way, any other ideas as to how to improve the maps? I'm sorry, I kind of get what you folks are saying, but any other specific issues, besides it looking "odd"?

Sonic Dog -> Light Spear -> Overlimit -> Slash
I can't say too much on something I don't know all that much about, but -to say the least- I'd prolly play it. RTP doesn't bother me, considering I hardly ever use XP, and I, like Coolio, am pretty interested in your whole "What's good & what's bad" concept.

I don't know if I can give good mapping tips for XP (heck, I still don't know if I can give good mapping tips for 2k3, but that's beside the point), but try imbibing Caro's and Shadow's maps into your ecosystem. They're not too busy, yet not too open, and they're quite appealing to los ojos.

Oh,
Spoiler for:
Hi, Kankatkit. (I hadn't said hi back yet.)

Read tutorials. Practice. You don't need to do anything else.

I figure that looking at good maps helps put into perspective what exactly a good map should look like. At the same time, though, that's what tutorials are for. Yeah, I guess all you need are tutorials and first-hand experience.

Thanks guys. I'll be looking around the tuts section X3

*Has already been doing so, and will be in the future >.>*

It's awesome to hear I have your interest, Sirus. I kinda wanted to take a whole pile of stereotypes - RTP, the whole "A group of good guys go out and beat the living shit out of the bad guy" - And turn it on it's head to show a few different perspectives. I guess?

Anyhow, Like I said before, I'll be looking around...

...after I'm back from vacation. I'm over at my cottage right now with a shoddy internet connection through my dad's laptop, so It'll be a little bit before I can get back to this =_=;;
