Hello everyone. I just begun using RPG Maker 2003, and the operating system I am using is windows vista.....

So far, the RPGM 2003 boots up, and I can create maps, characters, events and etc. However, I cannot test my game....(even after inputing a starting party position)

...Whenever I try to test a game, it reads "Unable to test play due to a fatal error during project compilation", then the test play won't load!

Could someone please help me, or let me know why it does this? Could it be my Vista operating system, or the graphics? What should I do?

Thanks so much....ANY help is appreciated....I REALLY wanted to make some RPGs that could be popular across the internet for people to play....

Brent

hi,?I remember this error from a long time ago. however i don't remember why.

try this, close your current project, open a new one call it test. Then create a simple map with grass and just put your party starting event there. have your maker set to a small window and not large. then see if that works.
if it does then you may have an illegal statement in your events or common events in your other game.

If it still has the error, try installing  rm2k3 not in program files  86 but install in program files(32) or just program files. and then try

if that still does not work, you may have an older version of rm2k3, you can check the version by right clicking the program and it should say it in the name. i think there up to 1.8 now.

good luck.

Hi Manaxaus....Thanks for the effort in helping me, I really appreciate it....unfortunately though, those things didn't work....

I did all those options, and the things that you mentioned, but unfortunately, it still says "Unable to load due to fatal error during project compilation".

Is there any other option to do, to adjust my Vista to play rpgmkr2003? I tried setting its compatability to windows xp or 2000 but that didn't work either....Any other thoughts?

Thanks so much!!!!

sorry to hear that man, ;"{

One more thing i just thought of. Make sure you have the runtime environment set up, if you don't know what that is google it. i think rm2k3 needs that to help it run. or windows needs it to help run. i also think it's free.

it also my be called runtime package

It can't be because he doesn't have the Runtime Package Setup, because Rm2k3 already needs that to run.

(Wait, or was that Rm2k?)

EDIT: If he doesn't have RTP installed, then he would've gotten an error that said, "RTP cannot be found" or something along those lines.
