Fable 2 Work System
5/27/09

Summary

If you are familiar with Fable 2's work system, that's what my goal is. If you are not, let me attempt to explain it in a boiled down way. A work system involving a visual reaction-time test. Graphically, it's a small ball-shaped icon inside of a arced cylindrical object. The ball would move all the way to the right and then back left repeating, while inside the arc an indicator (behind the icon, in the shape of the arc) will get smaller. The smaller the indicator is, the better the outcome if the player hits the button while the icon is in the indicator's area. PURPOSE: (In the instance of smithing) When the player hits the button while the icon is on indicator, the player will have completed a successful hammer to the item he's making. A certain number of successful hits will yield the item, and therefore gold for the player (pay is based per item). It would be nice to have 3 levels of indicator... In the beginning the indicator is large, if hit in this state it will equal one blacksmith hit. It should be smaller in the second, and a different color to show it's change. If hit in the second state it should equal 2 hits... Equals 3 hits in the third (also a dif color). Successful creation of the item could equal an editable number... I'd like for the player to be able to "level up" their abilities at this job, and as their level increases the speed of the icon the in arc increases also (making it more difficult to get successful hits).

Features Desired
Graphics for the arc/icon/indicator, also animation for player hammering item (I can help with this if you don't want to make sprites)
Successful creation of the item = gold for player
    Pretty much everything listed above

Mockups

<

This screen is from a different part of the game, but graphically the arc/icon/indicator are the same. (yellow is stage 2 of the size of the indicator.)>

Games its been in
    Fable 2
Haven't really seen it anywhere else...

Neat request, though I don't think I will take it, sorry :(

I hope someone does make this script for you though. It's definitely a good idea.

If you're still looking for this, Mr_Wiggles made an event system in RMXP that does it here:

I'm sure the events are applicable to VX as well. It will probably be helpful.

If the topic creator is satisfied with the result, then s/he can edit their topic title to say [RESOLVED]. If s/he would prefer a script, then s/he is entitled to leave it as a request

Not sure what you mean by simple. Do you mean the script or the event system MA linked? It is what it is. I haven't looked at how the event system was created, but I'm sure it could be slimmed here and there, but I don't actually know. So, no.
