Summary
Taking ideas from Final Fantasy 13 and Chrono Cross, it came to mind a Battle system that ran on Stamina System. Basicly, it's a MOD of the MP, and instead of using MP for Magic and Skills, your characters would use Stamina.

The thing is, Every action would cost Stamina. Even using items or Attacking. High level attacks would cost more, and weaker attacks would cost less. This opens the path for a "custom combo" type of battle where you could string several commands to unleash a more "personalized" fight. As you level up, you gain stamina, like you would MP and At the end of every turn your Stamina would refill fully (that's not set in stone though) and the process would repeat itself. The same applying to both players and Monsters.

Features Desired

  • Every action costs Stamina
  • Player can use actions untill he runs out of Stamina or selects "wait" in the battle cmd.
  • Stamina refills at the end of the turn (by full or 75%)
  • Stamina takes place of MP (no longer used)
  • Items would be able to refill Stamina in battle, but would be useless outside of battle (as you only use it in battle, and it refills at the end of the turn)
  • Player should be able to "spread" his attacks over multiple targets
  • Side-View Battlefield
  • Seamless transition (Optional) to keep the flow and speed up the process a bit, the animations and commands could just be applied without the characters having to reset to Original position (like they do after their turn)
  • Combo Counter (Optional) would register the Hits you get (per character) -> Could become a Variable for events
  • Probability Rating (Optional) When you select a target the Average Damage or Hit% could be displayed next to it (From Chronno Cross)

I know i don't have a lot of posts, but i would really appreciate if someone could take their time to share some ideas about this, or maybe, even make the Script. Because, quite honestly, i'm not sure if it CAN be done. But it would be a novel idea, that many could make good use of.

modern algebra

It can certainly be done. I don't like making battle systems because they're a lot of work, but it is definitely possible, and probably not a too too hard edit either. Aside from the command stringing, there's not much extra to be added it seems.
