I use ObjectDock, for ease of use. That's all. I didn't say that I used desktop mods, I said that it was possible for XP to look better than Vista with them, and not use as much resources. Please read what is written before you reply. Also, my argument isn't that newer software isn't compatible with Vista, it is that older software isn't compatible with Vista. Obviously, eventually more games will use things like newer DX revisions, and will not run in XP, but for now I still see no real reason to switch.

they had to change the core of the OS to make a new revision, obviously older programs aren't going to work perfectly, they -changed- it.

also, 7 is compatible with XP Mode :3

edit: don't forget xp virtualization.

Don't even get me started on that.

And he's right, I bet only a few RMRK members have hardware to support the XP virtualization

I wish there were some reviews about the bad parts of it, too. Sort of sickening and shabby to only read 20 articles stating how much it has improved >_>

When you make something bad and then something good, it's okay to keep aside the problems and focus on the good points.
For a while

Not really, it's from Oct 2008. A full review of the RC would be nice :P

I'd say it's more like putting shit on a piece of glitter.

Ok so last night I jumped on the 7100 bandwagon and I must say I am impressed.

Computer starts and is ready to use in 20 seconds.
Didn't have to install a single driver, and all of my hardware works flawlessly.
Idles at 1% CPU and 1GB of ram (down from ~17% CPU and ~1.4% RAM with Vista)
My computer is running lightning fast.
The new taskbar is <3

Only problem so far was a small error with installing iTunes.  Tried to install iTunes+Quicktime with the iTunes package and it didn't work because Quicktime failed to install.  This was remedied by installing Quicktime 7 first, separately, then installing iTunes.

Programs Tested :

I'm only adding the ones I've tested/used.
and on that note, I forgot to add VLC and Office 2007.

thanks for that list though.

extremely fast :O
I installed only the 64bit in custom install so I'm not sure if that made a difference.

hmm...I installed both, let me see...

I'm an idiot.
I tried to make a 640x480 document...and forgot it was in fucking inches.

LOL! I had to go and try that xD

hmm. seemed the exact same as opening a normal size doc :o but again my photoshop performance settings is allowing it to use anywhere up to 2079 mb of ram and my video card supports its graphics acceleration.

I'm running this on a laptop with 3gb of ram and an ATI Radeon 3200HD card.  I don't get much :P

right well, 640x480 inches at 72ppi caused paint bucket to freeze the program

If it is Dual Core, you may have to tell it to use two cores. If it already is using two cores, try one.
