I'm a huge fan of games with randomly generated world maps and dungeons. And I'd love to make one. I have a few ideas on how it could be done but I can't script =/

World map generator ideas:
1: A rough circle is created to form the boarder of the world. Then tiles that are choosen in the script would be randomly placed and then "grow" for a while to create mountain chains, forests, lakes etc.

2: The script chooses random "premade" maps that could contain forests, lakes, etc etc and then randomly replicate them on a huge map at random positions, and so a world would be generated.

3: Everything is randomly placed as events.

random map generators are kinda generic and uninteresting.
unless you found a way to do it like Diablo II or something, I'd not do it.

Not to mention the possibilities of horrible Mapping might add?

Random maps are so dumb. Going into a place that was randomly thrown together ruins the idea of exploring a dungeon in the first place: Figuring out why it was put there.

Some games have good map generators, like Civilization. Dungeon generators are never good. Sure, Diablo had random everything, but the map design itself wasn't so random. Anyway, if I could figure out the way that Civilization generates maps, then I would write it for you, but I wouldn't do it without a preset algorithm, sorry.

:)

if it could be done with RPG maker, that would make for a sick mini game :)
