Basically I wanna know your favorite Artists?
Mine are as follows:
1.  M.A.E. (If you don't know them now, check them out at whatismae.com)
-I strongly recommend everyone to preview their music on iTunes or Myspace
-With M.A.E. start from the beginning, they have improved each and every album all of which are really really good.
-Donate a Dollar to help their cause with "Habitat For Humanity" and get their latest song "The House That Fire Built" (All proceeds go towards a dream House for an Family who really needs it.
2.  Jimmy Eat World
-What can I say about Jimmy Eat World, they are so underrated after their major success with "The Middle" and "Angles Lead You In"
-Everyone should check out Clarity, In my opinion their best album.
3.  Sum 41
-People seem to have random issues with Sum 41, they started out Pop Punk and have become something totally original
-Chuck and Underclass Hero are their most recent Albums so check those out.
-Their way better than their success of "Fat Lip" and "In Too Deep"

Respond, what are your favorite artists and why?

This is too hard

(1) Wintersleep
  • Their live shows are amazing and amazing and amazing
  • They are constantly developing. While they have a recognizable "sound" to their music, I wouldn't be able to claim that any of their albums are similar.
  • The lyrics are great
(2) Broken Social Scene
  • Perfect. They have 19 members (obviously not all of them perform on any song) and they are able to join all these different talents into cohesive and amazing songs.
  • Usually I get bored with rock instrumentals, but their instrumental music is some of the best I've ever heard
(3) The Beatles
  • As if reasons are necessary.

It depends on my mood, so i'm not gonna put 3.

VAST, OSI, Chroma Key, Opeth, Mozart, The Gathering, Yes, Tool, APC, Blue Oyster Cult, Swollen Members and many, many, more.
I'm much too lazy to put an actual signature here.

Mine were completely a joke. I can't limit it to 3 though, so I'm doing 5.

5. At The Drive-In - The first band that made me realize that not everything has been done before.
4. He Is Legend - Amazing first album, with sweeping runs and heavy-ass riffs, but then decided to take a deep-southern metal approach to the 2nd album. It's still great, but I want another I Am Hollywood.
3. A Wilhelm Scream - Misanthropic punk rock with amazing lyrics and constantly moving instrumentation.
2. The Dear Hunter - Symphonic bordello rock. I almost can't even classify it, because it's so diverse.
1. Protest the Hero - Insanity in musical form. Unpredictable and yet cohesive. Lyrical subject matter is from left field, but holds up.

Beck
- He's made 7 or so albums, almost all of which went platinum at least once. The others all went gold, I believe.
- But I found that out after I realized that everything he does is awesome.
- Awesome beats and effects, and when he's not doing that he uses very interesting harmonic language.
- His lyrics are CRAAZZYY. And really fun(ny).
Incubus
- Very catchy vocal melodies.
- Very sweet bass lines.
- Very original progressions and ideas, without getting too far out there.
Debussy
- Because he changed the face of classical/modern music forever.
- He introduced whole tone scales and chromaticism in a way no other composer ever had.
- He did crazy shit like make an entire orchestra in 6/4, but one solo english horn in 4/4 at the same time???? That doesn't even make sense! How did he manage to set that up?!? You can't even tell when you listen to it! What the hell, Debussy!?
- He "set the bar" in 1900 for all music to come, so to speak. So what did people do next? Atonal music. They went in the other direction because Debussy just rocked everyone's face off and they couldn't out-do him. (personal opinion). Seriously though, I believe he set the bar a little too high...
- Honestly, I listen to Debussy and go through two stages.
- - 1. Holy shit this is amazing.
- - 2. I want to kill myself becuase I'll never be this good.

I don't like bands...I like songs. Sometimes a band makes 10 songs I don't like and 1 which I love.

Songs I like, that is, these days. It keeps on changing. (not in order):

I Will Follow You Into The Dark by Death Cab For Cutie
Boston by Augustana

Oh, Arlen's mp3 songs are great too, especially speakeasy. It sounds different.

Also, Halo <3
Arlen is hot.
