I want to begin by saying that I've searched for and read all the topics on importing and transparency issues - and I've just about had it to where I'm going to give up on RPG Maker XP completely - so hopefully someone may be able to help.

I'll lay it out in easy to understand format:

1. I'd like to make the base tilesets transparent.

2. I go to export, save the tileset as a png, import it back in and choose the blue as the transparent color. Should show up fine, right?

3. Wrong. Any new tilesets I try this with show up with a red circle icon in "materials" instead of blue. I thought it might be that the tileset needs configured in the database - but it does not even show up in the database.

4. The image format is PNG, and is unchanged from the original exported tileset. I even tried changing filenames thinking that might be the conflict - but it was not to be. Still have the red circle next to the file in the menu instead of the blue - and it will not let me select the imported files in any database or materials menu. I get no errors at all - just the red circle and am unable to use the imported tileset.

Again, I've read the FAQ top to bottom, I've read all the "help with sprite transparencies" threads in this forum and still I cannot get it to let me access the new tilesets (or old ones re-imported) for the life of me.

Any help is very much appreciated, and thanks in advance!

The red circle next to it is just meant to represent that it is imported, and is not part of the RTP (of course, you imported an RTP tileset, but the program is too stupid to know that).

I tried this, and it worked. I exported an RTP tileset, imported it again, and I was able to use it in the database. Are you sure you're importing it into the Tilesets folder in the Materials Editor? Because other than that, I have no other ideas.

Well, I'm a complete Newbie when it comes to this program - so I just discovered that The reason nothing is transparent is that im misusing layers. :(

Very sorry to waste your time Drog, and I will edit the thread title. Thanks!
