I thought I was free
I thought the chains were lifted
I thought they broke under my might
These chains of loneliness entangled me
They took control of me
They made my heart crash upon me

I thought I was free
I thought I could move on
I thought I did not need them
I was wrong
I ignored the chains
They never left me
If they were to break
They would merely reconstruct
Even stronger then before
I avoided them
I looked past them

I thought I was free
But after she took my heart
I will never be free

Am I alive? Am I dead?
Do I exist? Have I existed?
I'm skirting the edge of reality
Looking for a resting place
Lost in an ocean of sorrows
I want to wake up from this nightmare
I want to be freed from these iniquities

I have been ostracized
Shunned, banned, shamed
To the world, I have become an oblivion
I float about aimlessly
As I observed, you caught my eyes
You are drawing me back in
The drifter has finally settled down

You made me feel alive once more
My heart soars along with yours
I have returned Earth
And it is all because of you my love
You saved me from the pains of loneliness
You not only have my heart
But you have my eternal gratitude
I was lost, but now I am found.
100. Thanks

Zylos

Originally I was going to belittle you for ripping off the 100 Themes Challenge and putting your name on it, but whatever. I'll start writing some stuff appropriate for here once I get back to my regular computer tomorrow.

Sure

WHAT

THE

HECK

why not

(1. Introduction: DONE!)

EDIT: Yes, i am going to do this seriously, i've wanted an excuse to write something for a while anyhow.

SOME OTHER EDIT: Also, most of these are probably going to be deviations (sort of exerts) of this other book i'm in the middle of working on, just in case they are sort of confusing .-.

Forty

I added an old one for Chains and one for Lost that I wrote tonight just for you guys  ;)

Hello.

I am you.

~2

My life gives you meaning
My death takes it away
Do you want to know?
If so, follow-

~3

With this lens,
red
is the only color
I will see

~4

Gather now and be filled with belonging
A dispersal will come
all too soon,
but never soon enough

~5

There is always a song
Even if there is nobody there
to sing it

~6

You can try to write this all down,
but like skin, paper will one day be as sand.

~7

Carpe Florum:
Every breath of life
is another's exhalation

~8

To know what is real,
stand in an open field
and look up.

Keep looking

Look until you feel you'll go insane

~9

Clarity?
Symmetry?
Purity?
These things are all subjective.
True beauty is what you make it.

~10

Right about now, your vision should be blurred.
About now, you should be peaking.
Don't let go yet.
It's only going to get better.

~11

If all seems meaningless
and nothing is without hardship,
seeing that makes it all imperitive.

~12

Two quick jabs, a touch, and unity.
With this gesture,
we are family.

~13

When you let go, I go back to being one person.

~14

It's not so much what you said,
but how you looked when you said it.

Don't ever not be you.

~15

This is where it all changed
This is where mistakes were made
This is the place where I knew in my head
what I somehow forgot in my heart.

~16

There is a place in here where all rooms look the same.
A place where every small move puts you at the doorway.
Repetition.

~17

If blood on our hands makes us family,
then blood in our arms makes us familiar.

~18

Everything is bright
when I open the walls
for you.

~19

For you
when I close the walls
everything is dim.

~20

Being alone
never means
the same thing
to any two people.

~21

I suffered?
I never suffered.
I never suffered at all.

~22
One shot
gone through the heart
and I'm not dying anymore

~23

If pain is weakness leaving the body,
then the world should be fucking invincible by now.

~24

Nobody knows how it feels to be forsaken
because nobody knows how it feels
to not be forsaken.

~25

With this disease,
I now transcend into the new.
I will now become
whole

Inhale.
Draw from the spring that is our essence.
Now hold it. Gently, yet firmly.
Absorb it.
Understand it.
Feel it.
Then, exhale
and release it.

A blessing, it is.
And all at once
a most despicable curse.
For now I see all that is, and I will not miss a thing.
And therein lies my predicament.

Time passes as creeping darkness, each second in waiting take some small fraction of my being off into the void.
I, forever forcibly patient, wait for that day, that single hour, when this eternal pause will end.
Forlorn and forsaken bastard of this world.
Wailing into silence
Entreating Death.

There is no greater torture.
I am its engineer.
And I am its victim.
Holk, nice stuff, but please title it.

And the point is to try and expand your abilities, not write tons of short 3 line poems

I'm doing it my own way.

i made that method up

or rather, the "barf up what your thinking and call it poetry" way XD

i'm going to try the lewis carrol "barf it and then refine it" method one day..

at least that's the way he said poetry was done in that one poem where he teaches people poetry .0.

I'd say that's up to the writer, Fortycrust. :)

Well, yeah, but we ARE trying to improve our abilities. I don't see really short poems as too much of a mental hassle.

Holkeye

I'm not doing it to "improve my abilities." I'm doing it because I want to. It's called stream of consciousness.

Moss.

Holkeye

That's a good idea.
Although Nose might get pissed off.
It isn't his way.
