I intend to make a quadrilogy out of this. Each game shall be interlinked, but able to be played independant to the others. Also, I intend to make each game have a different "feel" and "look" from the others. The first game in the series is already complete and can be downloaded from this page. Please give the game a try and tell me what you think. I've tried hard to make it involving and engaging and importantly, fun to play. Please comment if you play.

Tales Of Worlds

For Tales Of Worlds 1, being the start of a saga, I went for the lighthearted, adventurous feel of the old SNES RPGs of the years gone.
In the month this has been released, it has been downloaded over 350 times, over three diferent versions, and has gotten great reviews at RMNet and Gaming World Forums, hailed as a challenging and solid, well paced RTP adventure, with realistic characters and an outstanding storyline.

I must advise you though. RTP served as the majority of this game's graphics, so if you cannot stomach them, don't even download. But overlook that, and you'll find an engaging and emotionally charged story with a nostalgic atmosphere and overall a great game that is fun to play.

A great evil has gripped the world. Time itself has been mutilated, and the lives of all will forever be doomed to relive the same life of terror over and over until the one who bear's the Creator's soul arrives, one who will carry the legendary sword and restore peace to the world and rewrite the planet's history itself...

The world of Taltarus hangs on the brink of war. The Arechon Empire, stable and neutral for many decades has mysteriously launched a war campaign on the free lands of the world.
Harnessing the legendary power Mana, which created the world, rumoured to be impossible to control save for the prophesised demon said to arrive at the brink of Taltarus's life, the Emperor encroaches on Farris, the last free kingdom.
Rene, holding a legendary sword passed down to him, and an as of yet unknown role in the death and rebirth of the planet, and his companions, the Remnants, members of the world's last free army, set out on a journey to reseal the Mana Pools, sources of the emperor's power, before the Mana balance becomes unstable and Taltarus itself tears into pieces.
What the experience along the way changes their lives, their destinies, and the fate of everyone alive now and everyone yet to be born. They discover the dark secret behind the empire's invasion, a secret that has held the world in it's grasp for thousands of years, and one which links them intimately with both the current crisis and the very birth of Taltarus.

But first Rene must uncover his own past, and discover a secret about himself that he'd rather have not known.

Follow a journey that has been in the making for over a year.

Protip: The links are broken, fix them. I'll post somewhat of a review once I've downloaded the game.

Well, I've been playing it for a while and I do like the game in general. There are some quite annoying aspects though. For instance, in your eventing you often have the characters set to look a certain way, and when I happened to activate the event from another side the characters were facing the wrong way throughout. This might seem petty, but things like that can stop people from enjoying cutscenes. Another example would be in the opening sequence; the scene where the Mana Knights are fighting with their opponent's looks kind silly since none of them are moving. I guess these kind of things are more aesthetic than anything, I just notice them since I try hard to make my events run smoothly...

A second thing is the mapping; although I don't have any problem with the RTP graphics (they look pretty good when used properly), you need to be more careful with your chip placement. I guess it is something that comes with practice, but a few aspects of your mapping just look/play wrong. Erm, a good example would be in the first town, where the player is able to walk up doors that go nowhere and walk through a couple of things that should be unpassable. I guess that's just a small oversight though.

Finally, the Knight from the start of the game is far too overpowered. And the ATB bars move far too slowly, you should increase the character's speeds so enemies do not get three hits in per each one for the party. The speeds of the characters should probably be more varied too, but I guess I wouldn't know how the character's develop overtime too well having only played the start...

Apart from these things, though, I'm liking the game so far. Seems enjoyable; I hope you can improve the small niggles for the next installment in your series.

Glad your enjoying it. Yes, I admit it has a few problems, as I was quite lazy making this one. I often say this game in no way reflects my true skill, but I'm still fond of it nonetheless. Contact me if you need help. I'm fixing the links now.
