Wii Speak Channel
Spoiler for:
Source

Consumers that purchase the $30 Wii Speak microphone peripheral for the Wii will be able to immediately use it for more than Animal Crossing, according to Nintendo.

The microphone comes with a code that unlocks the Wii Speak Channel, a chat system for the Nintendo Wii.

Up to four players can chat together on the Wii Speak Channel at no charge.

The user's selected Mii appears in the channel, mimicking the user's mouth to make it appear as if the avatar is speaking.

The channel also allows user to leave audio messages to other users, as well as make audio captions for their stored photos.

The Wii Speak Channel launches November 16.

Punch Out!! Wii
Spoiler for:
Source

Punch-Out!! fans have been waiting years for a new version of the popular and comedic boxing game, and at Nintendo's Media Summit, Nintendo said the news fans have been waiting for.

Punch-Out!! is coming to the Wii.

Nintendo showed a 15-second trailer of the game that featured the cast of characters, both familiar and new. Little Mac appears to be the main character still, and familiar opponents, like Glass Joe.

According to Nintendo, the game is set to ship in early 2009.

Club Nintendo Coming to America
Spoiler for:
Source

Nintendo fans in the US can finally get a reward for their loyalty.

Nintendo announced at the Media Summit in San Francisco that Club Nintendo, the popular reward point system in Japan, is coming to America by the end of the year.

Club Nintendo has been a feature in Japan that gives people points when they register their Nintendo games online. The points can be redeemed for exclusive merchandise.

The announcement was short and did not go into whether the registered Nintendo games users have already entered in on the Nintendo official site would earn points, or whether it's only titles released after the Club opens.

Pikmin is coming to the Wii! Hoo-ray!

Pikmin is just one game in Nintendo's new Wii De Asobu Selection lineup, which translates to "Play on the Wii Selection." This series will consist of GameCube games updated with Wiimote controls.

Seven titles are currently on the way for the lineup. Donkey Kong Jungle Beat kicks things off on December 11, and will be followed by Pikmin on December 25. In 2009, Nintendo plans on releasing Chibi Robo!, Pikmin 2, Mario Tennis GC, Metroid Prime, and Metroid Prime 2 Dark Echoes.

These titles will be offered at budget pricing. While we're not sure just yet of the prices for all the games, Pikmin will sell for 3,800 yen, making it 2,000 yen less than your typical first part Wii title.

Ball in a cup! Toss the ball, catch it in the cup!
Spoiler for:
Source

Sega finally shared details today on the first games from Prope, the new development studio formed by Yuji Naka, one of the main forces behind Sonic the Hedgehog and Nights.

It turns out that Prope actually has two games in development for Wii. One is the game that was promoted as being playable by penguins. See this story for the details.

The other game is probably not playable by penguins. Let's Catch is being developed for WiiWare and will offer the simplicity of catch ball for between one and four players.

The game will offer six game modes.

Story mode, designed for single player play, includes nine dramatic sequences set in a park. Players play catch ball to bring happiness to their neighbors and even save the world.

Also for solo players is Speed Catch. Here, you attempt to catch balls that are thrown at you with increasing speed. The challenge is to see if you can catch balls thrown at 160km/h or more.

Up to four can take part in the Nine Trial mode. Here, each player is given a board with nine panels. The race is to see who can throw balls through all the panels fastest.

Bomber Catch is also playable by four players. Think of this as hot potato, except you're tossing around a bomb.

High Score mode is playable by between one and two players. Here, players continue throwing balls in order to get the highest score. The site mentions some sort of "perfect combo." While we're not sure what this means, it presumably has to do with tossing the ball around without dropping it.

Finally, there's Free Play mode, a practice mode where up to two players simply throw the ball around.

Japanese Wii owners can look forward to Let's Catch in December. The game will sell for 1,000 Wii Points.

Video footage will be shared at the Let's Catch official site shortly. For now, go to the site for screenshots and character art.

Sega: Let's Tap
Spoiler for:
Source

Remember how confused you were when Sega opened up a teaser website for a game which appeared to take pride in the fact that it could be played by a penguin? Surely this was some sort of lost in translation scenario, right?

Apparently not. Today, Sega shared the identity of the mystery game. Titled Let's Tap, it appears that this game will be played without holding the controller.

At least, that's what Yuji Naka, head of developer Prope (and also one of the main forces behind Sonic, Nights and other Sega classics) implies in this introductory blurb at the re-opened site: "I've been making games for 25 years. At last, I've made a game that can be played without holding a controller."

The site shows an inverted Wiimote on the ground, and has a high-paced beat as background music. We're going to speculate that you play the game by doing something to the Wiimote with your foot -- perhaps tapping the giant B button?

More details will be available in 7 days when the site sees its full unveil.

Let's Tap is listed at the site as having the genre "Tap Action" and being playable by between 1 and 4 players (although the site also lists the possibility of infinite players). A Japanese release is set for December.

Prime 1 with motion sensing, it's kinda like a dream come true... <3333
...But I take it we're going to have to re buy all the games we bought just to use Wii-Controls?
38$ for motion sensing, while it sounds cool, I don't think I'd buy a game I own just to play it with motion sensing; unless they offer some type of deal to people who already own the game. Like if you register it online or something.

Yay! Club Nintendo! South Africa got Club Nintendo before we did? WTF!?!?
