Help on getting a New Computer . . .

You should know why I ask, but if your that lazy . . . here's what happened.

My Laptop crashed on me with a Blue Screen of Death & turns herself off, the Monitor won't pick her up & she turns on but cannot see a D*mn thing & turns herself off after 3 Minutes.

Currently using My mother's computer. I've thought of saving up my Allowance money to get a new Computer, not a laptop. But, I don't know what computer. Just need something that is Cheap, but that isn't Cr*p either, can last about, say a Whole Year Turned On, with a lot of Ram & Memory, a decent Video Card for games := & well, that looks decent too.


Any thought or help . . . appreciated, & No Apple, my father won't let me buy one :/

Anyway, get a barebones kit if you are willing to put your computer together. It's not hard but alot of it is knowing what you are doing. Barebones kits are pretty much a whole computer, cheaper yet not put together. Other than that I can't recommend anything lol, I only keep up with recent computer parts.

Graphics Card:

Even with everything at stock, you'll have a very speedy machine. The weak spot is the CPU, but this is why we got the higher end motherboard. The e2xxx series CPUs aren't in fact pentiums as the name implies, but artificially slowed down run of the mill core2s. They are identical to their double, even triple priced big brothers, except for less cache. The reason for the e2180 specifically is its 9x multiplier, and the reason for the higher motherboard is that it can support up to 1333Mhz, even 1600 Mhz if you're willing to push it on the FSB. The e2180 uses an 800Mhz FSB at stock, so with this board we have plenty of headroom.

the e2xxxs are famous for being the biggest overclocking CPUs available out there, with more aggresive cooling you can literally double the speed, but with what you get (you'll get a standard heatsink and fan with the CPU) you can push it from 2Ghz to 3Ghz pretty easily just by increasing the FSB in the BIOS. If you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, get a nerd to do it for you, it's not that hard.

Try mounting the laptop hard drive in a usb enclosure for a data recovery.
Most of the time when a hd crashes and no computer will take it a usb hd enclosure will.
Also your video card on that laptop sounds gone as perhaps is the hd.
Maybe a cheap hd and vid card on the laptop with a new a computer? :X

At least attempt a data recovery perhaps.
Usb enclosures for hds are cheap because they are just usb shells you can buy based on what type the
hd was on your old laptop.
I would do that just because lost files and work is the suck.
The fact it starts at all and stays on that period of the time means it passes the initial startup (POST) and is perhaps fixable.

Or, scrap the screen completely, open it up, see if there's no hardware failure, try booting into Ubuntu with a live cd. Or try repairing your windows install. (Get a windows disk)
If you can get it to stay on, use it with a desktop monitor.
And a usb maus and keiboard.
