There are a lot of programs people use to create sprites, right down from MSpaint, all the way to even photoshop.
Personally, I use IconEdit, and the Byond dream maker (since I'm a beginner at creating RPGs online, byond is easy for me to start with, so I can get a hang of it)

What do you like to use?

I think is I like Photoshop better... (Although I'm not really good in sprites)
Since I used Photoshop for long time plus I had tested any program which can create sprites but still... like Photoshop than others...

Your probably going to laugh at this, but I actually draw my sprites with a pencil, and then scan it on the computer,
and photoshop it. Afterword I just use Mspaint.

I draw too, but I use GIMP. Without free scanner acces, like me, I guess what you use is good.

Am I still cool?

No way, man. I though about doing that once and gave up the idea pretty quickly, for more reasons that just that I can't draw. Size, proportion, and all the different angles have to be drawn just right. If you can do it, then that's some amazing talent.

Whenever I make sprites, I just take a pre-existing sprite, such as Locke or someone from FF6, and draw an outline around them and take out all the colors. I use that as a template and draw over it over and over to make any type of character who would have the shape of that person. It's efficient and usually pretty good.

I use MSPaint for sprites mainly.

I use Photoshop (mainly just the dodge and burn tool) to touch it up for my VX tiles though because the VX tiles use lots more shades.
