No text appears in test play--tried a couple methods to change it, didn't work

That's right. When we hit that recurrent little green "play" icon, the game loaded appropriately, except that the menus do not show any text whatsoever. A friend of ours actually has had this problem, and fixed it by going to the configuration and changing that last "0J" to "2E." However, that does not work for us. In fact, if we do that, the game doesn't load the test player at all.

Anyone know what's going on? It didn't do this until quite a ways into the making of the game.

Not at all. When we don't change anything, the only problem is the lack of text.

However, when we change the configuration the way our friend does it (it works all the time for him), it tries to bring up the test play window (which stays black for an instant, then disappears), and then it plays the sound for an error--but no error message shows up.

Do you use Dubealex' text Script?
It might be the Alpha.

Could you tell us, what message system script you're using, if you use one.

sometimes i find virus scans and clutter removers delete things you don't want them to. so if you have run anything like that recently try reinstalling the rtp.

I haven't changed anything in the script it came with yet--I might change it to display names, but otherwise, it's the same as it was when I started the project.

We fixed it anyway; we basically copied the project's files into a new project folder, and it worked.
