Well, I recommend Civilization 4 (or 2 or 3), as the Civilization series is amazing. And if you don't mind playing older games, then Betrayal at Krondor is still my favourite RPG ever.

Morrowind can be and sorta is better than oblivion, but oblivion does not suck.

Currently im playing freelancer. Its not a bad Space fighting sim although dont be fooled by its claims of non-linearality.

I particularily like its trade lane things which are like motorways:
