The type of RPG I'm looking to make is SOOOO simple...or should be. I have searched and searched but no-one seems to be looking for this too.

Let me explain. I'm looking use a Paper Mario style battle system. That means, no random encounters, you meet your enemy in the field face to face before going to the battle screen. It should be easy to create a battle system such as this. Oh and a turn based system where you see charas move and they are animated.

It really annoyed me when I found out VX had the same darn combat system as Dragon Quest 2.

I need advice. Am I going to have to learn scripting and waste weeks and weeks of my life trying this?

Mabie the whole thing is just too complex.

It looks like I'll have to find a good battle system script and work with it from there. I don't like RMXP at all. I'll try the RM2k/3-to-RMXP Resource Converter and see if I can make XP mor bareable to work with.

I don't suppose its possible to make an easy custom battle system in RM2k/3 is it?

You're kidding, right? 2k3 is all events. Scripting is much, much smoother and easier to work with, but some things are just really difficult. But eventing an entire battle system? You'll have to find someone really generous, or learn to make one yourself. They're more used in XP because you can add a script that complements the script, and some things scripts can't do.
BUT you could probably put some scripts together, along with events. Like getting one animated battler system, another turn based system, and placing an event where when you meet it it activates the battle screen. I've never played Paper Mario before, so I dunno if this is what you're looking for.

Well, use rpg maker 2003 battle system its like final fantasy 1. Or try to creat your own battle system, because its all scripts..
