This is a truly awesome project and idea. Good work. However, in attempting to play this game i discovered that you are using more than just the RTP. Your using the RTP with the extras included at enterbrains site. 

This took me awhile to figure out. I knew that you were using materials from the RTP and so i knew i should be able to run this game without error... if i hadn't known that i would have just trashed the game after the first three crashes.  So i reinstalled from the beginning. Eventually also copying the extras manually into the RTP.

By the way... i checked the RPT 1.2e, its not in there.

Once again. LOVE the game.

Actually all of the "extras" are included in the game download, because the "extras" included with RPGM VX are technically not a part of the RTP, so you should not have had any problem. No one else has. I will install the game on my laptop that does not have RPGM VX to see :-)

Yeah... so i dont know if anyone else has this problem.... i cant be the only one... but if they DLed and installed the net copy of VX there is a good chance of it.  I would think that like me, when other people run into this error, they figure it to be an error on the part of the game maker and not an error on the part of enterbrains installers. Hence they just delete the offending project.

What i meant to say is... your game uses more than just the RTP, it also uses the 'extras'... at my link i left instructions for making the extras a part of the RTP.

I would assume that running the autorun in the net copy of the VX program would have an option for installing the extras... however i didn't get this message as windows XP doesn't know what to do with a auto run that is not part of a CD.  I could make the VX files into an iso file to test this but seems like too much trouble, just posting the bug and the fix seems like enough.

I also updated my post with instructions on how to reproduce the error.

If i left anything out you can send me a PM or just post here.

Yes they are "extras," however, I import them into the game itself so they become a part of the game and not the RTP. That is why the file is 18 MB instead of 8 MB.

The ice tower of Sheol is too cold to trek through without a way to keep warm.


There are many dead bodies piled up from the cold.

A very intelligent cave to be in full of tricks and traps.


There are secrets everywhere.


Levers help solve bridge puzzles everywhere.

The ruins are in V.9 in west Ravana. Ravana is north of where you start via travel service. As for making a lot of changes, not too many. I made the path up to it into a maze of trees. I tend to do that make mazes without looking like mazes.

I just wanted to say thanks for the submission. I have been adding things and yours is the largest, so it gets added last. I really love it in the fact that it inspires me with your creative use of tiles. Everything looks gritty, not pretty, and grizzly in a great new way that makes it stand out as something unique and special that I have never seen before :-) Now to add it... It will be later in the game.

A lot will change from V.9 to V.10. There is a new start town full of small town quests to get your feet wet along with more of a story and finding your party (but you still get to create your party).

There are a lot more updates than I actually post, due to the fact no one cares at this point, but the post gets 100 reads a day. btw This post has now hit 5000 views, I am happy. :-)

Anyway...

PERSONALITY
NPCs now have personality stats based on things like how loving, happy, athletic, powerful, rich, fearful, aggressive and other things like that. 16 stats now make up their personality and you can play with that. You can manipulate them through taunting, admiring, bribing and threatening them.

The tactics cannot go on forever though, because if their disposition drops to a certain point they stop talking to you and disappear. Guards will stop talking to you and throw you in prison or challenge you to a duel. Sort of like if you taunt an officer long enough you are going to jail.

This allows for persuasion quests and dating I suppose. Persuasion quests are when you need something from someone, but you have to manipulate them to a certain point where you get what you want. Instead of them simply giving information or items depending on what it is that you need.

If this seems like a bit much, you can always just bribe them, assuming that they are not rich.

COVERING QUESTS
To cover the variety of quests that are now in the game:
 - fetch quests (find this and bring it here)
 - persuasion quests (admire, taunt, intimidate or bribe someone to get something)
 - kill quests (kill this or that)
 - creation quests (like fetch quests only you create things and bring them)
 - rescue quests (find someone and rescue them)
 - escort quests (bring someone from point A to B)
 - puzzle quests (like fetch quests only involving puzzles)
 - revive quests (revive someone and either talk to them or rescue them)
 - survival quests (survive a battle to a certain turn)
 - escape quests (make it from point A to B alive in a certain amount of time)

Complete and utter lies.  While we may not post every time we visit, we're all glad to see that World Crafters is going through updates, especially with all the new script updates.

BIG UPDATES

I have not posted all of the trivial updates, I have merely saved them for one giant post!

World Crafters... the game that eats other games!

I really love the last screenshot, it is... moody :-) The first screen shot needs more variety like some broken tables or something :-) It is also full screen like Zelda, tighten up the room. All of the town exteriors are wonderful! I would love to take a sneak peak of the project :-)

2-3 hours is ambitious and I think that I just realized who you are on another forum. It is interesting; the fact that a person can go to all of these forums and follow the game like puzzle pieces.

TOWER, FORTS, VILLAGES, PORTS, and AN UNDERGROUND EVIL CASTLE
There are enough scraps around to make an entirely new kingdom and add it to the game. Scraps like excess things people have given me or things that I left out of one part to put into another part. It consists of 2 fortresses, 5 villages, 1 port, and an underground evil castle from Grafikal that will make anyone quake in their armor. This is where TOWER's great town will be placed along with his quests. All of this stuff will probably be for after the player has reached level 15-18+ and will be east of the Armatropa Kingdom.

Someone (on another forum) also gave an underground fire quest, along with an underground volcanic town and prison.

LAND OF THE GIANTS

A13x and that forementioned person have given *big* cities as in with *big* buildings. I would like to still use their submissions, just because they are still good, even if *big* buildings do not fit the design style of the game. So I am going to create a world of giants! An extinct race of giants that left behind a mystery as to where they went... remember Final Fantasy Legend II? Same thing!

STORIES

To match up with the fact that the player must now find characters for the party instead of going to a guild and getting hooked up with the party, I have greatly improved the story with twists and turns. The story before was more like you just keep plodding along going to new places and killing what needs to be killed. Now there is more of a direction thanks to the Quest Log Script. Here is an example:

HOMETOWN of TAKEMAN
 - you cannot leave town unless you have a weapon
 - pops (father character) will give you his prized pocket knife if you prove yourself to him (there are many ways)
 - when you get the pocket knife something major happens and you are sent to the king

KING LORIK'S CASTLE of TANTEGEL
 - the king is a great man that will help anyone
 - the king's guards protect him from everyone
 - find a way to see the king (there are many ways, maybe 4 of them to see the king)

NEW ALIAHAN
 - 1 of those ways is to speak with queen kalysta
 - she sends you to scare away a peeping tom looking at her daughter from across the moat
 - you must persuade him to stop watching, without killing him
 - with queen kalysta's blessing you can visit the king

... twists and turns without giving anything away


THE SCRIPT (from other people):
 - removed Individuality script (caused random errors I didn't want to deal with) DARKOSHADE
 - added advanced save script (but it still has errors) DARGOR
 - added bestiary (not working yet) DARGO
 - quest log script (heavily modified to work with my quest system) ATORIA
 - lights script (thinking of removing due to the lag) KYLOCK
 - advanced title screen (random maps from in game show!) DARGOR
 - particle effects (sparingly used) ANRYU
 - item generation script (create your own items) KGC
 - stat distribution script (thats what it says) LETTUCE

I just had a really long post about updates and then when I posted it went to a 404 error and never posted.

So I will only post the first half of the post, due to the fact that I am too tired to write anymore.

I would also like to point out this game has been going 6 months.

I finally have been granted access to see my web stats and I saw that this game had 1,000 downloads in the month of September alone and it has not had a new version since very early July. I am happy.

The game now has 2 characters that will join your party for the rest of the game. This was to do away with the simplistic go to a guild and create your characters right at the start.

I remember with Maia 2K3, people complained that you found all 4 characters in the first five minutes... but then of course you lose one of them when he turns on you 10 minutes later.

Anyway, one of the two new characters is the princess of Alefgard. Not really the princess, more like she's the step daughter of the king. The daughter of a thief that married into being a queen.

The second character is the player's endearing, charming, flustered best friend of a character.

Both characters need to be earned with quests, if not a series of quests. One storyline will lead you into prison, the other will lead you into a graveyard after being asked by an angry father to go.

You can get both characters to join the party after a full hour into the game. Give or take ten minutes.

I should point out that you still pick their class and assign their stats to create your very own character.

Now to make how to earn the final character.

As for how you submit things, you just make your own game, and then give me that game and I will add it to this one. That is what makes this the game that eats other games.

Here are the errors with V.10 that have been reported and I have fixed:
 - fixed walking sick
 - Quick Fix Quest Log error is now fixed
 - Fixed Halbat Farmer that would not let you pass even when you completed Quick Fix
 - Fixed Akarothi Docks error
 - Fixed the thugs and the princess

These are pretty noticable if not annoying, so I have uploaded V.10.1.


Make sure that when installing the new version, you keep your save files in a different location and then put them back.

18 as far as I have gotten, and I have beaten the game... or at least gone as far as anyone can go when you warp to another world. I need to go back through the game and play it a second time to add quests to the quest log.
