Would anyone be interested in this sort of game?

I, me, my... you?
First of all, hello, and thanks for reading.

Now, I love writing, and excel most at writing dialogue and characters in general (or so I've been told), so I had an idea.
I was going to make a mystery detective sort of game, with most of the gameplay involving interacting and interrogating people and finding clues, with some puzzles in the mix, too.
But my question is, would you play a detective game without any battles, and interactive enviroments and npcs instead? If not, any ideas as to how to implement battles without them seeming tacked on? And finally, has this been done before(in rpg maker games, I mean)?

btw, is this in the right place to post this?
Working on: Oh my, Gradion! (A post-apocalyptic adventure)
Currently Playing: Lunar Knights, Cave Story

Returned from the dead.
I like, i'm doing a kind of battle-less game as a backup for if I get bored of my main one, it's gonna have strategic battles. You could have something like that if you're gonna include battles, but I wouldn't recommend them in a detective game.
Overall, the idea's awesome, i'm really looking forward to an outcome :P

Hmmm, I was thinking of something along the same lines. Something like that would be great.

I think that might be interesting.... but the thing about my way of play.... and I wont talk for everyone cause everyone enjoys rpgs for many reasons.... but if its a detective game of some sort.... I personally would think that there would be some battle somewhere.... I mean if you think about it.... the self proclaimed 'guy in hiding' would do something to insure you couldnt keep up your work as the so called detective with many different types of obsticles..... whether it be guys trying to stop you or maybe even mini-game based traps of some sort.... but.... thats just my perspective.... I find battles interesting.... but everything is all about chance.... so I figured why not give my perspective and you can draw your conclussions.... its all up to the designer.... which I have to add.... requesting info on an idea is a great way to start..... due to the fact that you can get answers that may very well help you in many aspects.... whether my info helps or not.... good luck with your idea and project...

By the way, I think this topic is more appropriate for the "Game Creation General Chat" board.

I'd like it. :) Just be sure to make it very interactive so people don't get bored and don't have tonnes of text (I read text but if there is text that goes on rapidly for more than 1 minutes with nothing else happening, I skip it).

It's a great idea. Battles are the biggest RPG cliche ever.

It sounds interesting. I'd probably play it, as I don't care too much about battles or that.
