Im considering starting a new game
but have never used either of these programs
(im only familiar with 2k and its limitations)

I really like the sideview battles in 2k3, is this doable in XP?

What are some other pros/cons of xp vs 2k3?

Pros 2k3
Slightly easier, less bullcrap to pile through.

Cons 2k3
Not as powerful
No scripting system

Pros XP
Can have any type of battle u want through rgss scripting.
Better graphics

cons xp
Might be more advanced to use, but still easy.

it seems like a majority of the scripts i could request for are already done or could get done for me, haha. Is there an avaliable script for a different battle perspective?

Cons XP
costs money....
No face graphics or vehicles (so i hear for the latter anyways)
You need scripts for a lot of thing you'd want to do (i.e, side-view battle system)

Pros
You can get scripts for probably all the things you'd want to do (that counts as 3 votes just because it's so great....)
Aesthetically pleasing graphics

Cons 2k3
No scripts (that's bad...)

Pros
Free
Events can handle A LOT of things if you're creative in how you use them, or get tutorials
default side-view battle system (that's a pro imho)

Plnty of others of course, but these are my two cents on what are the bigger factors in your decision.  As it goes, i use and like 2k3, but will upgrade soon to xp or vx because i want some things done by scripting and generally more appealing graphics.

XP doesn't cost money

and yes, you can replicate the sideview battle system in XP, no problem.

Just a note to not trust everything being posted here; I see quite a lot of misconceptions.

This is just me but.

If you can find everything you want for XP than go with it espically if you can do scripting.

If you can't do scripting very well i would go with 2003, or if you can't find the scripting for what you want.

or try the easiest thing.

Use both of them and see which one you like better.

@telecaster: personally i'm just posting my opinions of the pros and cons, rather than definitive facts, as i assume most others are too, so yeah, as Reives said don't take anything for red, everone's likely just posting opinions.....it's all opinion based really.

@Ruzu: Yeah, i'd worry about scripting.  Seems compllicated; i'd just get scripts off others for certain things, but on the whole i'd stick to events for doin' everythin' for the most part.
