Yep, wont let me even open the .exe

I downloaded, and installed it. When I press 'play' the screen turns white and nothing else happens.

Trial? You should be playing the game on a private server. There is no trial.

Make sure you're replacing the line you added to the hosts file with this:
127.0.0.1 204.13.11.27
127.0.0.1 audio-surf.com
127.0.0.1 www.audio-surf.com
