2 questions:
Kay, i've downloaded some music and sounds.  i got mid for SE and wav for bgm, i then imported them into the maker, but when i try to play them they just....don't play....silent  ....
Any ideas why?

Other question is: anyone got links or know a page or somethin' that explains how i can record sounds (tryin' to make a fan game) and get them to work in-game (which also kinda leads back to question one)...

Thanks

Hi, there.
Did you make sure that the Volume slider is up? I sometimes put it too low and when silent music comes on I dont hear it either.

If not try playing them in Windows Media Player. If they don't work there then you must of dled them wrong or they are bugged.

As for recording sounds, do you mean off the computer? If so, get a digital recorder, record something, upload onto computer, import to RPGM. If you have a video camera, record what you want with the sounds you want, import to computer, then you will have to extract the audio with a program.

If it's on the computer, same as above just skip to the last step.

If you want to make your own sounds, you will need a mic and an audio recording program. Audacity is a good example.  :)

Question #2 was solely out of curiosity.

1 is the problem.  I have the music, tried it on media, and it worked fine.  I checked the SW Synth (had that problem before) and that was fine too.  I double checked everything, including the volume on the editor and that was at full, but hwne i went into test-play the music was just silent.  Even on the editor on the choose music/se window, when i hit play it started playing (i know this because other music turned off) but ti was silent.....
I cannot work it out...

Hi, there.
Do you hsve different versions of RPGM? If you do, try it in one of those. If it works in that one, you may have an error with your current RPGM. If not then I can't think of anything else. Sry. :(

Does your volume work for other stuff?

One time my system volume was on mute and it took my 4 hours to figure it out. Go to Control Panel - Sounds & speech, etc..

Yeah, everything works as it should except these sounds....

I wonder, does anyone know if this would make a difference:
i downloaded them as different extensions (mp3 i think) and converted them to wav and mid.  Would that have anything to do with it?

Hi, there.
Yes. Especially since there is no such program that can convert MP3s to MIDIs. >_<

Try playing the originals in RPGM. Then tell us if it works.

I didn't use a program to convert it, i just changed the extension from mp3 to mid/wav.   works fine on media player and such, but just not in-game/editor.  i can't play/import an mp3 from the editor at all so i guess i could say that that doesn't work....

Hi, there.
Well, there is your problem. Just changing the extension doesn't mean you changed the format. It just means you changed what programs can play it.

That is why RPGM allow you to import them, but is silent when you play them. I'm sorry to say it, but unless you convert them to .wav correctly (with a program), they won't work.

Oh...damn :x
That's the first time that's ever made a difference to me.  Will .wav work as BGM on rm2k3?  I thought it was only .mid?

I hate when I cannot reduplicate a problem...  2003 right? because 2000 isn't very nice thats why most of the bugs and problems were fixed in 2003
