I'm working on a project with a friend using this program.
The problem is, the default battle system is crap, as you would see if you're familiar with that game maker template.
I was wondering if somebody could, if not explain a form of scripting to me, direct me to a tutorial database for this type of thing.
I'm already aware that it's pretty easy to use this program, but our efforts in scripting a different battle system have become way too maticulous. So we've essentially said, "Screw it."
Ahh, just some additional information:
I remember back in the day, when I was using the 2k version of this, there was a neat technique I had done with the touching events.
Each event touched by the main party would was set to teleport to a different map that allowed free maneuvering around it while an "Enemy" while an attack animation would show over you and your character's sprite would flash red to indicate an attack.
The same thing would happen to the enemy event when you set the action button to activate the battle animation.
That having been said, it's been very over used and looks really crappy, despite how interactive it may as well be. On top of that, it's a ***** to program for every single enemy.
I'm looking for something more simple, but still more action filled. The old FFIV battle style just doesn't appeal to that many people, but making a battle system like that of Golden Sun's or anything related seems out of the question without some gnarly scripting.
Any information you can donate would be appreciated.
Thank you.
