I have a program called Parallels
it lets me run Windows XP and Mac OSX at the same time

the thing is I can't run games with Direct X over 8

Boot Camp would allow me to do so, but I don't want to have 2 XP Harddrive partitions cuz that's annoying and pointless

my question is this
does ANYONE know if Boot Camp can use the partition I already have, and if not could I migrate the data from the Parallels one to a new one that boot camp creates, and then have parallels use that one?

Theoretically, once you create the new partition for Windows with Boot camp, if you make it UNDER 32 GB! and after you install the OS and crap, you SHOULD be able to just move everything from the parallels drive to the one you just created, and then kill the parallels drive, which should then merge back with the mac drive.

I don't know if parallels lets you transfer files between disk partitions that easily, though. You might have to use flash drives or DVD-RWs or something.

but no, boot camp ALWAYS makes you create and format a NEW partition

but if you're talking about using both boot camp AND parallels at the same time, I doubt it would work. And it's also kinda pointless. It takes, like, 2 minutes to switch between the 2 with boot camp.

the reason I want to keep parallels is because I don't want to have to restart my computer every time I want to run flash or rmxp, then restart it again to get back to my chats

parallels has a program for migrating files I think

thanks tho
