I'm planning on setting one up, and I have to get much more music now.

What do you think?

Shoutcast is cool. Every now and then I do broadcasts of music through the shoutcast DNAS I've installed on this server RMRK's running on, which lets me basically support more users than I'd ever get :P

Does shoutcast run straight from the IP/domain or through Winamp for the client?

You know, for someone to hear the songs.

Roph

Uh, clarify?

I play the music on my winamp with the Shoutcast source DSP loaded. What that does is encode it to whatever I've told it to encode to and send the encoded data up to my shoutcast server running on this.. server, which you access through rmrk.net:8000. When you connect to the stream, you're connecting to this server, not my PC or my copy of winamp or whatever.

That way, even though I only have 256k upload, I could broadcast at 256kbps to like 30 people if I really wanted to. I just upload the "source" stream to the server, the server distributes it.

Would you please give detail onto how to do this? It sounds interesting.

Of what Roph described :/

I know how to create a SHOUTcast server, I just don't know what Roph does. :tpg:

Roph

Pretty much the same, except instead of running the DNAS on my PC, I run a DNAS on my server.
