A Tutorial that tells you how to finish a CG just by your hands and a pen tablet!
Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, recent topics I've posted are asking for helps LOL
So I think I should post something to share too^^"
I'm not good at RMRK works(events...mapping...orz), so I can't be a tutor of that, but I can share some of my CGing progress.
This is the completed CG, it's 100% done just by tablet sketching OpenCanvas & PhotoshopCS2.
The original characters are from MagnaCarta- Tears of Blood~one of my favorite PSP game.
First, make a draft which is twice larger (or more)than the original size you want.
Say, if you want your picture to be 500~700pixel, draw the draft at the size of 1000~1400pixels
This one is 2000x2000(original size) 300dpi
There are two characters in the picture, so draw them in different layers.
After the draft is done, put a layer on your draft and draw the main line using black pen.
You can make the draft layer's opacity lower so it won't get messed up with the main lines.
It's better if you draw a line quickly, other wise it will became shaky T_T
I know it's hard to do that, but you can try it over by undoing it (Ctrl+z)
Sometimes it takes a long time for me to draw the lines, it'll be easier if you draw the hair and the clothes on different layers.
If there are multiple characters in your picture, it's better to draw their main lines in different layers.
The line art is a little different from the drafts, I changed her pose because the original looks weird when been flipped horizontal orz...
After the lines are done, you can delete the draft layer after all it's useless now.
Start coloring!
Put a new layer under the layer of lines, and color it with pen.
Color the shades after the main color is done. It's better to think where the light comes from while doing it.
After everything is done, erase the color out.
Now here's the hair. I use 3 layers to do the hair, they are calculated as
Main-at the bottom of the three-Standard
Shades-On the top of three layers-Mulitiple
Bright-between the main and the shades-Addition
On the standard layer, color it with its stream delicately. On the shading layer, do it more finely and delicately.
You can put more than one color for shadow, it would look better.
*It needs patient to make it shiny and beauty.
Add the light on the addition layer, but not too much, or it will be too shiny.
After everything is done, put the layers together and erase the color out.
I didn't use much effort on the eyes, just finish them by using darker and brighter color.
Every person draw eyes in different ways, I'm just lazy T_T
Add a another layer for the clothes, the coloring method is almost the same as others.
Here's a quick way to wipe out:
Now color the other one using the same method
As for the background and the letters, do it in Photoshop would be easier.
Before finishing, take one last check at everything.
Hope this had been a help to you, comments and constructive criticism welcomed. After all it's my first tutorial around LOL
