Making a Shire style tile set, like a hobbit village (Feedback please)

Hi guy's... I have been working on a village after making those tree's as a sprite request... Here's what I have done so far:-

In this screen shot you can see I have made an underground house and a fallen tree.

This one shows again another underground house with a tree growing off of the roof and a larger tress to the side.

This small house has a few Orchard bit's an bobs around it, lots of apples and an apple cart.

LOL... This is a photo of a Bird tabe I have shurnk and used various filters to make it look RTP like.


Other things I have added, mountain area's from the mountain tile set, Bridges, Fences, Extra pond stuff like reeds (In the last shot above)...

The tile set is pretty cool... And will feature in the next addon pack I release, but that wont be for some time.

So any suggestions or comments ?

It's pretty cool. I dislike how you can see the top part of the walls through the hills, it makes it seem as though someone just through a ton of grass on somebody's roof. The dark grass outlining the top of the house looks a bit unnatural as well. The gazebo is a little non-RTP, I think.

However, all in all it looks pretty great.

If you don't like the Brick corners you can replace them or cover them with a Plant, or clump of grass...

The dark edges I will fix... Thanks for spotting them.

The Bird table will never look 100% RTP... But I think it's fairly cool, and sits OK with the landscape... I do think your right though.

oooh - nice *shaz gets warm and fuzzy feeling imagining a few maps for this tileset - how long did you say?

Agree on comments about shadows - still seem to stand out a little - I think it's the colour.  Would it "fit in" better if you made it closer to the colour of the shadow tile?  Also agree on the gazebo comment - it looks too realistic in an "unrealistic" environment.  I think it's the lighting & reflections on the roof part that make it stand out so much - the "walls" look like they fit in a little better.

Love the reeds - they'd go really well in the map I'm doing now!  Looking forward to seeing more!

I like the idea, but I guess I wouldn't use it.
Ofcourse it is in early stages, but also that custom things look so not fitting...

What you could do:
-Sharpen the fallen tree.
-Delete the custom things and/or make them totally from scratch RTP style.

i like the idea and the way you do it, specialy the last one but it doesnt seem to fit rtp well the way it is colored hmm but maybe its just me. but i realy like it
