I use it as a utility, to play videos or music quickly, or when other programs don't recognize the format.

what other media players do you suggest?
I'm not much a fan of winamp if that's what you mean.
Currently stuck using iTunes because of my iTouch, though the genius feature is nice I suppose.

I only use it for syncing music to my iPod. You don't have to use it for anything else.
