Dwarra?

Four of my favorite bands have put out awful albums this year, fuck this year B(

At least Canada did something decent.

Whatcha think of Battleborn and The 2nd Law? I heard only the lead single or whatever from Battleborn and wasn't impressed. The 2nd Law has a few mostly good songs but the best songs sound too samey. I felt like I was just listening to that song from The Resistance that aped on Origins, with even more mediocre symphonic noise mixed in. That's my first problem with this, and to a lesser extent Resistance, the symphonic sections are just noise and really don't serve any worthwhile or interesting function. Moreover, ever since BH&R they've been trying to do everything they can on one song instead of sticking to one complete and strong vision. I do like a few tracks but I can't shake the feeling that they really lack a good direction, or rather its direction was the principle of if you like y and z you must love y + z.

Battle Born was embarrassing. Everyone was done listening to heartland rock 30 years ago. Not much more needs to be said there.

The 2nd Law was really cool to me in that a lot of the songs were really varied, and I appreciate their willingness to break their own mold and experiment. I'm sure they ran those risks knowing they wouldn't fully pay off, but I think that was kind of the point. Some songs were really cool, others were alright, and about half of them were just terrible. But in all honesty, I'd take this experimental album over another Absolution any day. Maybe not another Black Holes though.

Dwarra?

Funnily enough I wasn't even thinking of the 2nd Law when I made that post.

Battleborn - The Killers (Ass)
Infinity Overhead - Minus The Bear (Double Ass)
Some Nights - fun. (Dear god it's not even the same band anymo-ASS)
Church of Rock & Roll - Foxy Shazam (Stale Ass)

I've only listened to what Malson has showed me for the new Muse album, and all I can say is it's pretty forgettable.

for the thread's sake: Let's Build A House - The White Stripes (marvelous jam)

lol, embarrassing? I was going to acquire it for further inspection but I think I'll save my time.

I really agree you with guys, but herein lies is my point:
Black Holes & Revelations was really cool to me in that the songs were more varied than before, and I appreciate their willingness to break their own mold and experiment. I'm sure they ran those risks knowing they wouldn't fully pay off, but I think that was kind of the point.

The Resistance was really cool to me in that the songs were even more varied, and I appreciate their willingness to break their own mold and experiment. I'm sure they ran those risks knowing they wouldn't fully pay off, but I think that was kind of the point.

Honestly I think I enjoyed The Resistance more. That one French song was really groovy and the two very Origins songs were good enough for me. Panic Station is cool but his vocals really throw my enjoyment. Survival started so fucking well but turned into that Origins song again.

This thread reminds me of back when it was super cool to not like anything.

I understand people have their own tastes, but damn Dr. Sword, where's your middle ground?

I like music more often than I don't, but every single one of the albums I listed are worse than any others the respective bands have ever put out. Battleborn has been growing on me but it's still a huge disappointment after they said it was going to be more like Sam's Town and then they completely shat all over that. Infinity Overhead has maybe one or two good songs, and the lyrics are so cheesy I can't even enjoy them with a straight face. Some Nights is just plain awful and I know all of you are tired of hearing "GIVE ME A SECOND I NEED TO GET MY HEAD ON STRAIGHT BLAH BLAH BLAH HIGHER THAN THE EMPIRE STATE" all over the radio. And Church of Rock & Roll isn't really good or bad, it's just plain forgettable.

I'm just acting out in sexual frustration because I was so excited for all of these albums and they all disappointed me ;9
On the bright side, Circa's new release is pretty good.

Edit: I haven't been listening to anything but The Format/Weezer lately anyways so I might just be stuck in an upbeat poprock bubble. [yt]6X-Uo8fFFs8[/yt]

As I Lay Dying - Awakened
Born of Osiris - The Discovery

Yeah. I've been going back and forth between those two. Aild is amazing, and boo is weird in a good way, but I can't listen to it too much at once. The guitar part in Recreate is so fing cool.

Deadmau5 is actually writing music now. And it's awesome.

Fucking Aviations. This is the music that I would love to write. Think Animals As Leaders mixed with Emery's clean vocals, and add some game-style music. Its fucking perfect.

Just noticed that the video doesn't have the vocals in it. Look elsewhere on the forum...

I saw Big Gigantic tonight. I'm not a huge electronica fan, but some friends were going, and I was into doing something different. They were so good, and I danced for like 3 hours.
