ITT we suggest good indie rock

Okay, well my favourite genre of music is Rock. I like most stuff - classic and otherwise. Bands like Pink Floyd, Tool, Modest Mouse, etc... Anyway, I want to learn about new, cool bands. I know they're out there. For example, two of my new favourite bands are:

Arcade Fire
Wintersleep

I just want to find more bands to like. If I can google them, just say their name. If they're hard to find, provide a link. Anyway, suggest away.

Nine Inch Nails. I like them and I listen to IDM.

Not new or indie, but a good band nonetheless.

What does Indie mean?

independent. I.e., not signed. That being said, I don't actually care much if they are signed or not - I just want to learn about good bands that are kind of obscure.

Cool, the only band I have heard of in that list is Rise Against. I'll have lots of music to find now.

My sister loves the Decemberist, I don't know if they're good, but they're new and indie.

I think they're sort of like The Arcade Fire.

P.O.D. and Letter Kills are great stuff

Both suck...and from what I last heard, P.O.D. aren't indie.

I liked Letterkills a few years ago. My buddy was friends with them, and I saw them live a few times. I kind of forgot about them because they're kind of generic.
