I've been using MS Paintbrush to make sprites and then Gale to apply tranparency, but when I import the "transparent" alpha-channelled sprites, the background color of the sprite is still solid, so the enemy/character/whatever has a box around it.  I've even tried not using alpha channels, and even not using .PNG format, and still get the same result.

Why?  Do I need to use a certain program to make the background color transparent?  Or is this a bug?  I recently got RPG 2003 (3 days ago) and have spent the greater part of my recent illness planted in front of the computer, experimenting with the program.  Did I miss something?  Is there an option in the program to take a color from the canvas and turn it transparent?

Try it without adding transparency. You can do that in the program itself.

How do I apply the transparency in the program?  I've already tried not using the transparency in the file itself...how do I use the program to apply the alpha?

Yes you have to make the background a solid color you havent used in your picture and while you are adding it you must click on the background to make it transparant

okay... I think I tried that already but I'll try again.  I just hope it works this time...

EDIT:  I think there may be a bug in my program... there's like a one out of three chance that the program will make the clicked color transparent.  And yes, the background is a solid color not used in the actual sprite pose.  Thanks for the help though.
