RMRK is retiring.
Registration is disabled. The site will remain online, but eventually become a read-only archive. More information.

RMRK.net has nothing to do with Blockchains, Cryptocurrency or NFTs. We have been around since the early 2000s, but there is a new group using the RMRK name that deals with those things. We have nothing to do with them.
NFTs are a scam, and if somebody is trying to persuade you to buy or invest in crypto/blockchain/NFT content, please turn them down and save your money. See this video for more information.

I'm new here. I just bought the full version of RPG Maker XP. Just thought I should introduce myself. I am gonna try to make a RPG I have tried to make for the last coulple of months with other engines. I also am making a MMORPG, but that is something completely different.

Welcome Poster of Year 2006 Award
The welcomes cannot be complete without THE DIABLO POST.

I am someone who posts humongous welcome posts. To start off with things, you'd be wise to read this, so you don't get in trouble for doing something you had no idea about.

Also a thing to be aware of. It had dimmed down lately, but you'd be best prepared for everything. Don't be offended if a number of people flame you, it basically means nothing. Why they're allowed to is beyond my understanding.

Don't be offended by fumanchuu and others not being afraid to hide their sexuality, they just like a place to say it seemingly. Use the search button to find answers to questions that you might have. Who knows, it Might have been asked already. That helps avoid people from flaming you or dumbing you down.

Follow the rules..and don't join the flaming crew. If people say something, that relates to an incident that might HAVE happened in the past on this forum, you might be like "what are they talking about." Suggest you get briefed about "Important stuff" so as you don't repeat something people hate.

Now, a recent issue that has come up is that if you happen to get into a fight with another member, try to not let it get too out of hand. (Ya, it's the internet, but you wouldn't believe all those that have had this problem).

What a long post. Welcome to the forums, follow that, and no one should bother you. Except those that have nothing better to do then that, but just ignore them.

I own the welcome forum.

RULES:
1. No Flaming - Flaming is the performance "art" of posting messages that are deliberately hostile and insulting, usually in the social context of a discussion board. Flaming will result in a 1 week ban no questions asked.
2. No S.P.A.M. - Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages

General Things To Follow/Rember:
1. When your posting for help its always a great idea to have a long detailed explanation of your problem. Make sure to mention and  errors or weird glitches you may encounter. These are crucial to finding the problem. Its also a good idea to tell us what your having the problem with IE Rpg Maker 2003, RMXP
2. Acting mature and keeping your cool is the best way to get along with everyone. If you keep your cool and the other guy freaks out it makes you look 100 times more mature.
4. Rember to use the edit button if you need to make a change to your post.
5. The search button is a valuable tool! Somone may have already posted what your looking for. This saves us and you time. =)

Avatars / Signatures

As you've probably found out by now, the avatar dimensions are 105x150px ~

For the forums to be viewable on an 800x600 resolution, the most widely used MAXIMUM sig limit is 500x200:

You can use this tool to host your signature here on RMRK.net for the best speed.

Also it should probably go without saying that avatars/signatures should be work safe.

Mods can edit signatures that break the rules. If you keep doing it, it's possible to have your profile locked :).

IRC Guide

VERY SIMPLE, use this URL (alternate) to get to the IRC channel using the Java client. You don't need to download anything except maybe Java if you don't have it.

You'll need to know a few commands. Commands begin with a slash (/)

/nick - Changes your nick (your name in the channel). So for example if you put /nick bob, your name would change to bob, assuming nobody on the IRC network is using that name already (there are many channels on the Windfyre network).

/me blah blah - if my nick was bob and I put /me pokes GilgameshRO, it'd come up in the channel as
***bob pokes GilgameshRO

You could get away with just that for casual talking every now and then, but there's some extras.

Registering your nick -  This registers your name so nobody else can use it and pretend to be you. To register your nick, you have to /msg (talk privately with) the bot called Nickserv.
Change to your nick and register like so: /msg Nickserv register password email. So if your nick was bob and you wanted to register it with the password of 123456, you'd put /msg Nickserv register 123456 bob@example.com.
Now the next time somebody else tries to change their nick to bob, Nickserv will msg them telling them that it is registered, and to either supply the password or be renamed automatically to something else.
The next time you join the channel and use your nick, Nickserv will /msg you asking for the pass. (If you're using the Java client, you'll see it in the main window, but don't worry; only you can see it).
Submit your pass like this: /msg Nickserv identify 123456. If you did it right Nickserv will tell you you're now recognised ~

Using an IRC client is cooler than using Java, here's how to setup GAIM (the client I use) to connect to #crankeye.

After downloading/installing GAIM, go to create a new account~

Only the screen name, server, password (if your nick is registered) and alias are important, you can leave the rest.

Now you have your new IRC account.

If you click accounts, you can tick [auto sign-on] on it, so when you run GAIM it'll connect to the IRC server automatically. Once you've connected, you want to join the #crankeye channel, so type /join #crankeye.

Now you're in =0 You can chat away =D

To skip the having to type /join #crankeye each time, you can add the channel to your buddy list:

And then in your buddy list, select auto-join for the channel :3

CrankBot is a bot who sits in the channel and performs menial tasks. At the moment, he responds a couple of commands:
