RPG MAKER, the recent nightmare that's caused me to lose sleep and obsess.
We all create, write, coming up with new concepts, customizing characters, icons, and so on. But more than half of all projects get scrapped or are just giving up on. Yea, WE can create yet ANOTHER RPG, but for who? for what? Are we really just wasting our time? Maybe, if it goes no where. The last thing those of you whom have dedicated yourselves to RPG MAKER want to hear is "it's a waste of time." With SO MANY people working in this medium, why haven't we banded together like an actual team to come up with an AMAZING GAME, as opposed to several dozen that don't even come to fruition?

I have a buddy who's helping me, but the last thing I want to do is take on 80% of the project, c'mon people we have lives, let's not spend all of our free time tiring to come up with a game all by ourselves.

I'm pretty sure close to all projects get scraped, and many people do get into "Teams" to make games. But I see what your talking about and in theory it sounds like a great idea...

I'm making an RPG instead of playing one for now, I do it to waste some of my free time.
I sadly don't see it going past the demo which is nearly ready, but I don't care as I've enjoyed making it.

The only problem I see is the mass organisation it would require to succeed. That, and I know I don't work well with others :P

If you do get it to work however...

I think the only real problem would have to be dedication, although many other factors come to mind.
Of course, EVERYONE has the next best idea, so how do you get everyone on the same page? Creating a game in RPG maker is probably just a hobby for the majority. But it would be great creating work with people who have specific jobs like a real development team.
Although, it would be difficult finding a scripter willing to work on someone else's project. Btw, post you're game when it's ready for demo.
Can you imagine, a 50+ hour quality game completed by one person? You might have a better chance at winning the lottery.
What to do?

I am making my game for myself. I am making it to proove myself, I can be original, I can make an interesting story, an interesting plot and an interesting gameplay. I want to proove myself, I can do it, I can work on it, I can finish it.
I have the skills, maybe not all the time to make all sprites, battlers, music, etc., but that's why I have the RM community. I use here and there some RTP, here and there some music by others, here and there some graphics by others. And a community giving that much has deserved to get something in return. So I contribute and share my scripts. :)
And I give back even more: An interesting game, with an interesting story, an interesting plot and an interesting gameplay. I give them back the fun I've had when I was making the game. If I've had fun playing it through 100 times and 100 people have fun playing it through one time, I have achieved my goal. :)

Lol, I must be talking crap! xD

I've not been into it long. I scrapped my first game but it was due to technical issues, i had to go and redo all the maps like 4 times because i kept learning new stuff to make them better.

I had used the white square to erase stuff and when i relized i could walk over half the trees, furnitures, and houses i had made so far i decided to redo it all one last time, but it was so boring the 4th time around i quit and am now trying something new.

Ive downloaded someones game and cleard all his maps and renamed everything so i can start a new game with limit it breaks and other complicated scripts

"What I'm really after," Mystery finally
said, "is for people to be envious of me, for women to want me and men to want to be me."
"You never got much love as a child, did you?" Style  asked
"No," he replied sheepishly.

I'm an addict for original skill animation and would like to help with a project in that aspect. I killed about 6 hrs. on one skill, it's about 120 frames, about 6 cells per frame, and there's still room for improvment.
I do also write events. I frickin love doing that!

Mapping can get a little repetitive if you're striving for perfection, (you shouldn't have it any other way though).

The more people involved the less original and personal the project becomes. And, often times, with a program as simple and easy as RPG Maker, so long as you know what you're doing it takes less effort to just do it yourself than combine efforts.
