Main Automation

In FL by default there is a "Main Automation" pattern (no 9). What's the point of this? I put my automations in the playlist wav view and always change my Pattern 9 to whatever it needs to be. Are you meant to keep the "MA" thing there?

I have seen in the example projects that it's used for the automation on the entire track. I usually make "samples" without sound, but with automation and use these then. It's a matter of taste I guess.
